Dynamic visual acuity test (DVAT) plays a key role in the assessment of vestibular function, the visual function of athletes, as well as various ocular diseases. Ocular drug side effects are very varied and can affect all the structures of the eye. The purpose of this review is to help clinicians: (i) to evoke this drug-induced toxicity yearly in the course of an unexplained ocular injury, before its damage become irreversible, (ii) to be able to recognize induced paradoxical ocular inflammation, mimicking an inflammatory pathology flare-up, especially in patient under anti-TNF regimen and (iii) to propose a more in-depth knowledge on recently described ocular toxicities from targeted cancer therapy, mainly the tyrosine kinase inhibitors.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Certified orthoptists are routinely required, as a standard component of outpatient care, to examine and identify the cause of double vision described by neuro-ophthalmology and oculo-plastics patients. Peer-reviewed articles in the strabismus literature describing the significance of this role of the orthoptists, especially in more complex cases of strabismus, do exist, but are outdated. The time course of drug adsorption and desorption, exposure of soft contact lenses in a drug solution needed for maximum saturation, and the duration of lens wearing during which the drug was transported from the lens and exhibited its therapeutic activity were studied. The possibility of using computer simulation for the choice of material, carrier for the drug (myramistin hydrochloride), was evaluated. Due to use of this method, the volume of experimental studies could be reduced and the data systematized.
