Mice infected with 30 Schistosoma mansoni cercariae for 8 weeks presented viable eggs in the tissues up to the 17th day following curative chemotherapy, as demonstrated by the miracidium eclosion test. 2. Stool and sputum samples from 127 children in an endemic paragonimiasis area in Liberia, West Africa, were examined for the presence of lung fluke eggs. Samples from nine children (7%) were positive. The eggs were identified as those of Paragonimus uterobilateralis.

A comparative study of mice infected either with the Porto Rican or a Brazilian (Feira de Santana) strain of Schistosoma mansoni failed to show any difference regarding recovery of five day lung worms, recovery of adult worms from the portal system, number of eggs per gram of tissue in liver and intestines, histopathology or mortality rate. In fact, the differences, although small, were greater among animals infected with the same strain, that when the total results from both strains were compared.

Parasitological complex studies of the available eland stock (60 individuals) were first carried out. As a result 100 % infection rate of the herd and the age dynamics of strongylatoses were revealed. The autopsy of animals have shown that five species of six species of nematodes and one species of cestodes are common parasites of ruminants of the Ukraine steppe zone and two species are specific parasites of eland. For sanitation of the herd an anthelminthic preparation produced in Hungary was used. The preparation decreased the initial infection rate to 7.3%.

Golden hamsters were superinfected simultaneously with 100 Schistosoma haematobium cercariae, 1 and 3 weeks after initial infection with 100 S. mansoni cercariae. A clinical trial of Niclofolan on human opisthorchiasis was carried out in 60 patients admitted to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases. Two dosage regimen, 2 mg and 3 mg per kg body weight repeated after a 72 hour interval was administered to 31 and 4 patients respectively.
