OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to describe a technique for uterine-sparing hysteropexy.
CASE REPORT: A 50-year-old multiparous woman with pelvic organ prolapse underwent laparoscopic sacrohysteropexy utilizing polypropylene mesh with good clinical result.
CONCLUSIONS: Placement of mesh arms medial to the uterine vessels during a laparoscopic sacrohysteropexy can be facilitated by using blunt needles to introduce the mesh arms.

Five explanted posterior chamber lenses were examined under the scanning electron microscope to determine the changes. The intraocular time of the lenses was 1 week to 3 years. The polypropylene loops showed superficial cracks in all cases, but only in the curve and the insertion areas. The findings therefore indicated that the morphological changes are more likely caused by mechanical stress than by biological degradation alone.

Plastic joints for orthoses have more advantages than metal joints. They are lightweight, noiseless comfortable to use, rust proof, corrosion free, and radiolucent. Two types of plastic joints were developed by the authors, one for the ankle joint and the other for the knee joint, elbow joint or hip joint. Polypropylene was chosen as the joint material because of its appropriate flexibility and toughness.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of a newly designed Seoul-type keratoprosthesis (S-KPro).
METHODS: The S-KPro, which consists of a polymethyl methacrylate optic, a skirt (polyurethane or polypropylene), and polypropylene haptics, was developed and implanted into 2 unsighted and 5 sighted eyes of 7 patients. One patient had a chemical burn, another had an ocular pemphigoid, and the remainder were diagnosed as having Stevens-Johnson syndrome. The preoperative visual acuities ranged from light perception to hand motions. The average follow-up time was 25.6 months.

Indirect inguinal hernia containing an ovary is a rare condition, especially in adult women who do not have any other genital tract anomalies. In addition, inguinal hernia containing an ovary and endometriosis is exceedingly rare. In the present report, we describe a case of indirect inguinal hernia containing an ovary, fallopian tube, and endometriosis. Laparoscopic repair was performed successfully using polypropylene mesh for the treatment of the inguinal hernia.

The present study aims to introduce a transvaginal interposition of polypropylene mesh as a reproducible procedure for women with vaginal vault prolapse following cystectomy due to bladder carcinoma. No recurrent prolapse occurred in two cases 16 and 4 months after the operation. With apical fixation of the mesh, vaginal length can be maintained. No perioperative complications appeared. Performing the technique in a reproducible way seems feasible irrespective of differing anatomical conditions.

One-stage combined surgery in a female patient with total extrophy of the urinary bladder after uretherosigmostomy was performed for the first time with participation of surgeons, gynecologists and urologists. Corrective surgeries in these patients must be performed for the purpose of creation of isolated urinary reservoir for prophylaxis of pyelonephritis and chronic renal insufficiency. Correction of symphysis defect was carried out with polypropylene endograft. This surgery was performed to provide quality of life and reproductive function of the patient.
