Operative small bowel resection specimens received over a period of 16 years were reviewed to assess whether any intestinal disease could be directly attributed to the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID). Seven cases of intestinal disease associated with the use of NSAID were identified, all of which occurred in the final six years of the survey, which may reflect the increasing use of these compounds. In 504 patients with asthma or rhinitis 1,868 oral challenge tests with analgesics, preservatives and food colorants were performed. Sodium benzoate and other benzoic compounds, as well as tartrazine and other azo dyes, were found to give similar but milder adverse reactions than acetylsalicylic acid. The effects of amino acids and the benzodiazepine, flurazepam, on spontaneous and potassium-stimulated [3H]dopamine (DA) release were studied in slices of rat substantia nigra. None of the amino acids tested liberated [3H]DA directly. Flurazepam increased [3H]DA output by 51% and this effect was partially blocked by bicuculline but not by picrotoxin. This alkaline-catalyzed procedure harnesses ultrasound as a potent energy input, facilitating the rapid conversion of extra virgin olive oil into biodiesel. BACKGROUND: Aluminum phosphide (rice tablet) is a highly efficient agent for preserving grains against rodents and insects. It accounts for a large number of poisoning cases. Aluminum phosphide poisoning has a high mortality rate of about 90%, and to date, no antidote is available. It releases phosphine gas after exposure to moisture, and this reaction is catalyzed by the acidity of the stomach. BACKGROUND: Bromide is a halide ion of the element bromine usually administered in the form of potassium salt as monotherapy or add-on treatment in epileptic dogs. It is excreted unchanged in the urine and undergoes tubular reabsorption in competition with chloride. Thus, dietary chloride content affects serum bromide concentrations. This is the first published clinical report of bromide toxicosis secondary to a dietary modification of chloride content in an epileptic dog treated with potassium bromide.

Adsorption thermodynamic characteristic and kinetics of dissolved chromium from aqueous solutions onto humic acids (HAs) were studied. The calculations of EPR parameters (g factors g||, g(perpendicular) and zero-field splitting D) related to the impurity structures have been made from the high-order perturbation formulas for Cr(3+) ions in trigonal KSc(MoO(4))(2), RbIn(MoO(4))(2) and RbSc(MoO(4))(2) crystals. It is found that the MO(6) octahedra in these crystals change from the trigonal elongation in the pure crystals to the trigonal compression in the impurity centers. The results are discussed.

A novel and high-sensitive stopped-flow kinetic spectrophotometic method for the determination of perphenazine based on monitoring the variation of absorbance of the intermediate within a few seconds has been developed. More Cr was accumulated in the kidney, liver, pancreas and spleen than in the blood, muscle, heart and lung. Twenty-three rabbits were fed for 8 weeks with standard diet to which was added a 1.5% cholesterol supplement. After this the cholesterol supplement was discontinued, but 11 rabbits received a daily intraperitoneal injection of 20 micrograms of potassium chromate while the remaining 12 received distilled water.
