Seeking Dual Channels for Conducting in Color Paradise: Optimizing Electron Hopping and Ion Diffusion in Polyimides Films to Contribute Better Performance of Electrochromic Devices.

Electrochromic (EC) materials can be widely used in displays, electronic labels, and smart window. However, obtaining EC polymer materials with more stability and faster response times is still a great challenge. Based on the concept that a planar block will improve the electron transfer and a nonplanar block will decrease the dense packing, the special combination will encourage improvement of conductivity of ion and electron simultaneously. We designed and synthesized two kinds of PIs (PI-DH and PI-DP) condensed from dicyclohexanoic anhydride and triarylamine-fluorene-triarylamine (TAA-FL-TA

Phase Change Materials for Battery Thermal Management: From Material Synthesis to Hybrid Systems.

Effective thermal management is a cornerstone of safe, long-life lithium-ion battery operation, especially under high-rate charge-discharge and dynamic driving conditions. Conventional active cooling technologies face inherent trade-offs between heat dissipation efficiency, system complexity, and temperature uniformity, while phase change materials (PCMs) provide a promising passive alternative by absorbing latent heat during phase transition to buffer temperature spikes, improve temperature uniformity, and delay thermal runaway propagation. This paper presents a comprehensive review of recent

3D-Printed Plantar Orthoses and the Conditional Viability of Recycled PLA.

Plantar orthoses play an important role in podiatric care, as they help to redistribute plantar loads, improve foot function, and support the treatment of various conditions, including diabetic foot disease. In this context, additive manufacturing has substantially expanded the capacity to produce customized orthoses through digital geometry acquisition, computational design, and controlled fabrication. From a biomimetic and bionic perspective, 3D-printed plantar orthoses can be understood as engineered interfaces that reproduce, support, or modulate key biomechanical functions of the human fo

Plant-Derived Nanovesicles: From Biogenesis and Lipid Fingerprints to Gut-Organ Axis and Smart Biomaterial Platforms.

Plant-derived nanovesicles (PDNVs) are natural bioactive nanocarriers, yet existing reviews remain fragmented across immunology, drug delivery, and engineering. This review provides the first integrated framework bridging plant cell biology, immunology, materials science, and nanomedicine to present a complete biogenesis-composition-immunomodulation-engineering-translation continuum for PDNVs. We systematically compare three biogenesis pathways-multivesicular body (MVB), plasma membrane budding, and the plant-specific exocyst-positive organelle (EXPO) pathway-and delineate the unique lipid fin

Determinants of stakeholders' attitudes and intentions toward supporting the use of Wolbachia-infected Aedes mosquitoes for dengue control.

BACKGROUND: A recent approach in controlling dengue is by using the Wolbachia-infected Aedes mosquito (WiAM). The approach has been reported to be more effective than traditional methods, such as fogging. Therefore, it is imperative to assess the factors predicting its acceptance among stakeholders before implementing this technology more widely in Malaysia. METHODS: The survey data were collected from two primary stakeholder groups using a stratified random sampling technique. The two primary stakeholder groups were scientists (n = 202) and the public (n = 197) in the Klang Valley region of

Electrospun dual-layer core-shell janus membranes for unidirectional water transport and biphasic thymol release.

The development of Janus nanofibrous membranes represents a promising strategy for advanced moisture management and multifunctional materials. However, the practical application of biobased functional agents is often limited by their rapid release and short functional duration. To address this challenge, a novel dual-layer Janus nanofibrous membrane with dual core-shell structures was proposed by sequential coaxial electrospinning. The asymmetric structure consists of a hydrophobic inner layer composed of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) encapsulating thymol (THY), and a hydrophilic outer layer incorpo

Fabrication of Remotely Activated Shape-Memory Polymer Composites via Single-Step Photopolymerization.

A simple one-step photopolymerization strategy is presented to fabricate multifunctional shape-memory polymer composites capable of remote and programmable light-triggered actuation. The composites integrate gold nanoparticles and semicrystalline poly(ethylene)-block-poly(ethylene oxide) nanoribbons within a cross-linked epoxy network. During curing, the block copolymer undergoes crystallization-driven self-assembly, generating micrometer-long nanoribbons that act as reversible thermal switching domains, while gold nanoparticles are simultaneously formed in situ, enabling efficient conversion

Realizing luminescent single crystals of covalent organic polymers with color-tunable emission through isomer engineering.

Preparing luminescent single crystals of B-N-containing covalent organic polymers (COPs) is very important but highly challenging, since most conditions only produce luminescence-silent crystals. To address this issue, we employ an isomer engineering strategy to successfully prepare luminescent (CityU-50) and luminescence-silent (CityU-60) single crystals of B-N linked COPs based on two distinct chromophore isomers, 3,3',6,6'-tetra(pyridin-4-yl)-9,9'-bicarbazole (3,6-TPy-BCz) and 2,2',7,7'-tetra (pyridin-4-yl)-9,9'-bicarbazole (2,7-TPy-BCz). Core-Satellite Structured Copper-Based Nanomedicine for Orchestrating Accelerated Wound Healing with Potent Antibacterial Efficacy.

Bacterial infections at wound sites impede healing and pose a serious threat to human health. Conventional antibiotic therapies, however, tend to trigger resistance. Consequently, copper (Cu)-based materials have recently emerged as highly promising alternatives that synergistically kill bacteria and thereby accelerate wound healing. Herein, we developed a core-satellite nanomedicine (PZH) composed of a degradable Cu-doped phosphate-based glass (PBG) core and multiple ZIF-8/hyaluronic acid (HA) satellites. PZH shows pH-triggered behavior: at physiological pH its structure remains intact and Cu

Turning Color Confusion to Clarity: A Layered Ce-Based Nanozyme Drives Rapid Wavelength Transition for Discriminative Detection of Nerve Agent during Decontamination.

Organophosphate (OP)-based nerve agents (NAs) pose serious risks to human life, demanding materials that facilitate rapid decontamination and reliable detection with selectivity. Ce-based metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are considered as promising candidates due to their high reactivity. However, their intrinsic yellow color misleads detection of NAs such as paraoxon, which releases yellow p-nitrophenol. Here, we report a bioinspired 2D metal-organic layer (MOL) construct, Ce-BTB-MOL, a phosphotriesterase nanozyme with abundant binding sites that not only facilitate rapid degradation of paraox

Recent Developments in Electrochemical Sensors for Monitoring Neurotransmitters.

Endogenous chemical messengers, known as neurotransmitters (NTs), have a variety of essential functions in the nervous system. It is a crucial neuronal transfer signaling medium that also affects physiological states. However, psychiatric, physical, and neurological conditions such as Gilles de la Tourette's syndrome (GTS), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and autism are associated with abnormal levels. As a result, it is crucial to detect them with precision and sensitivity. A common and practical technique for detecting electroactive NTs, or those that can be combined with el

Bacterial infections, along with the associated issues of antibiotic resistance and biofilm formation, have become major threats to global public health. Given the serious limitations of traditional antibiotic treatments, including short half-lives, poor targeting, a high risk of adverse effects, and the induction of antibiotic resistance, the development of novel alternative therapies is urgently needed. In recent years, stimulus-responsive nanoplatforms that leverage the site-specific microenvironment of the infection site in conjunction with exogenous stimuli have garnered significant atten

A dual-pH-responsive smart starch film with antibacterial and controlled-release functions constructed from tannic acid‑copper nanoparticles for strawberry preservation.

Polysaccharide-based films offer considerable potential for food shelf life, but are still limited by their antibacterial activity and poor physical properties. However, current improvement approaches often struggle to achieve a balance among multiple physical properties of films and the controlled release of antibacterial agents, and may also introduce potential biotoxicity. Herein, we developed a biocompatible controlled-release system by incorporating copper-tannic acid nanoparticles (Cu@TA NPs) into starch films. The Cu@TA NPs exhibited excellent compatibility and could be uniformly disper
