The effects of frequency in chlorobenzene, chloroform, and carbon tetrachloride have been experimentally investigated in this study. The irradiation frequencies were 35, 74, 170, 300 and 1000 kHz. Soluble material from frozen and thawed sheep eosinophils and sonicated extracts of eosinophils or their granules inhibited the alternative activation pathway dependent action of sheep complement for human erythrocytes sensitized by sheep antibody. Sephadex G-50 fractions of the sonicated eosinophil and granule extracts showed that inhibitory activity was associated with the void volume fraction, the fraction possessing the eosinophil peroxidase activity.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Real-time tomographic reflection is a novel technique that uses a geometrically fixed arrangement of a conventional ultrasound transducer, a transducer-incorporated monitor, and a half-silvered mirror. This device, dubbed the Sonic Flashlight, generates a virtual anatomically scaled image, obviating the need for a separate monitor. It may therefore facilitate invasive procedures, such as percutaneous access to the kidney. This proof-of-concept study assesses the feasibility of this technique for renal imaging and concomitant needle puncture guidance.

We report a facile and low-cost method to directly exfoliate graphite powders into large-size, high-quality, and solution-dispersible few-layer graphene sheets. In this method, aqueous mixtures of graphite and inorganic salts such as NaCl and CuCl2 are stirred, and subsequently dried by evaporation. A series of oligo(ethylene glycols) was efficiently tosylated by ultrasound procedure within dichloromethane in the presence of triethylamine. Results show that sonochemical synthesis of oligo(ethylene glycol) ditosylates has a double advantage since it does not use catalysts and it drastically reduces the reaction time. This straightforward method represents an eco-friendly alternative to the traditional tosylation by pyridine synthesis.

Using anion-exchange high performance liquid chromatography under non-denaturing conditions, the conformational flexibility of adenosine-, ampicillin-, and quinine aptamers were studied.
