A simple resorcinol method to determine nitrate (NO3-) in seawater using a microplate reader with a 48-well plate was established. The method involved the nitration of resorcinol in sulfuric acid to form a pink product that was detected at 505 nm. Reagent concentrations were optimized, and the effect of salinity on NO3- determination was investigated. The detection limit of this method was 0.8 µM, while the upper limit of the linear range was 100 µM. The recoveries ranged from 91.5 to 109.7% for spiked seawater samples with different salinities. In this work, a method of recalculation of results of X-ray fluorescence (XRF) technique to Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES) method was elaborated for biosorption studies. Equations that calibrate XRF to ICP-OES were determined, as a biosorbent strawberry, blackcurrant and raspberry seeds after supercritical CO₂ extraction were used. Raman and infrared spectroscopy has been used to study the structure of selected vanadates including pascoite, huemulite, barnesite, hewettite, metahewettite, hummerite. Pascoite, rauvite and huemulite are examples of simple salts involving the decavanadates anion (V10O28)6-. Decavanadate consists of four distinct VO6 units which are reflected in Raman bands at the higher wavenumbers. The Raman spectra of these minerals are characterised by two intense bands at 991 and 965 cm(-1). Four pascoite Raman bands are observed at 991, 965, 958 and 905 cm(-1) and originate from four distinct VO6 sites.

Increased retention and selectivity in the subcritical fluid chromatography (SFC) of various amine compounds on polysaccharide chiral stationary phases (CSP) was observed upon incorporation of cyclic amines into the modifier. We have synthesized new xanthine compounds, derivatives of theophylline with various radicals in 7 position. The compounds have been characterized by molecular formula, weight, yield and melting point. The synthesized xanthine derivatives have been purified by repeated crystallizations from various organic solvents. Their chemical structure was confirmed by IR spectroscopy.
