KEY CLINICAL MESSAGE: Management of supernumerary teeth fused to the labial surface of permanent maxillary central incisors would require a multidisciplinary approach comprising of endodontic treatment, periodontal recontouring, and cosmetic composite restoration.
ABSTRACT: The reported cases of supernumerary teeth fused to the labial surface of maxillary central incisors are rare. Such cases need multidisciplinary approaches. Herein, management of a supernumerary tooth fused to the labial surface of a maxillary central incisor is reported. Due to the presence of a communication path between

Ectopic maxillary third molar teeth can often be located in the maxillary sinus, and the region necessarily requires a multidisciplinary approach due to its proximity to the oral cavity. Ectopic third molar tooth in the maxillary sinus was detected by oral and radiological examination in a 26-year-old male patient. The tooth was removed, and sinus augmentation was performed through the Caldwell-Luc procedure, and a dental implant was placed afterward. The treatment was ended by making a prosthetic metal-supported ceramic crown. Both removals of the ectopic tooth from the maxillary sinus, sinus

The mesiodens is the most frequent type of supernumerary tooth which can appear in the maxillary midline area. The etiology of mesiodentes is not fully understood. This report shows a case of incomplete fusion of an unerupted mesiodens with a permanent maxillary central incisor, aligned in the dental arch. Intraoral and radiographic examinations indicated fusion of the crown and cervical part of the root of the supernumerary tooth with the permanent incisor. The clinical situation was further complicated by the presence of another supernumerary tooth located palatally. The treatment approach h

The evaluation of the eruption status of the wisdom teeth constitutes a significant component of the spectrum of dental methods available for purposes of forensic age diagnostics. In the present study, the status of wisdom tooth eruption was identified in 606 conventionally created orthopantomograms of 515 female and 91 male Germans, divided by sex and tooth, using a modified classification comprising four stages. Instead of the original stage C (gingival eruption) which cannot always be reliably identified on X-ray images of suboptimal quality, stage C of the modified classification was consi

This case report describes the periradicular healing and resorption of an unintentional extrusion of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) in an open-apex central incisor. A 22-year old female with a symptomatic open-apex right maxillary central incisor associated with a periradicular lesion was referred for evaluation and treatment. After chemomechanical debridement, the apical third of the root canal was filled with MTA to create an apical plug. Postoperative radiographs showed the extrusion of MTA into the periradicular lesion. The tooth was then restored with a post and crown. At the 2-year fol

PURPOSE: Ameloblastic fibroma (AF), an exceedingly rare benign mixed odontogenic tumor, scarcely occurs in the anterior region of the maxilla. This case report aims to delineate the formidable challenges faced during the early diagnosis of such cases, with the ultimate goal of averting missed diagnoses.
METHODS: A 6-year-old female patient presented with the delayed eruption of bilateral maxillary central incisors. As early as 2 years old, tooth 62 was found to be impacted, accompanied by a supernumerary tooth in the anterior maxilla upon X-ray examination at another facility. Currently, for

INTRODUCTION: Failure of teeth to erupt from gingival tissues at usual developmental time is called delayed tooth eruption (DTE). Delayed tooth eruption lead to prolonged fixed orthodontic treatment and its eventual complications. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effect of laser-assisted (808 nm) surgical uncovering, on the tooth emergence and orthodontic treatment of DTE.
METHODS: A total of 16 orthodontic patients were included in this study and were equally assigned to an experimental and a control group. Subjects for experiment consisted of eight patients (6 girls and

Eruption cyst or eruption hematoma is a soft tissue cyst of odontogenic origin that occurs in mucosa, which forms shortly before the eruption of the primary or permanent tooth. It is usually found in children. In some cases, it has been seen that it disappears on its own. If there are complications like pain, bleeding or infection, surgical exposure and drainage are necessary. This case is associated with erupting permanent tooth, and its surgical crown exposure has been done by using a diode laser. How to cite this article: Bansal MB, Kumari A, Asrani KH, et al. Dental trauma is a very frequent occurrence in children and adolescents, which creates a great impact on the esthetics, functions, and phonetics. Traumatic dental injuries can range from simple enamel fractures to permanent tooth loss. This case report presents an eight-year-old patient with an uncomplicated crown fracture of tooth 21, and 30 days after trauma, it was diagnosed as necrotic pulp. The first treatment choice was a regenerative endodontic procedure (REP), however, the failure led to apexification with Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA). The chosen rehabilitation was a composite vene

Dentigerous cyst (DC) is the second most common odontogenic cyst with greater incidence in young patients. It presents as a unilocular, asymptomatic radiolucency involving the crown of an impacted tooth, commonly noticed in X-rays to investigate absence, wrong tooth position, or delay in the chronology of eruption. Decompression/marsupialization (D/M) is the most implemented treatment, especially when preserving the tooth involved is advised. The aim of this study is to discuss the DC characteristics that contribute to spontaneous eruption of premolars, by reporting the case of a conservative

The congenitally missing maxillary lateral incisor is the most common agenesis in the anterior region. There are several treatment options for this anomaly, which causes severe deficiencies: orthodontic space closure, tooth-supported restoration, or single-tooth implant. Each of these solutions has a high degree of success if used in the correct situation. An implant-supported restoration with an interdisciplinary approach provides a predictable outcome. This article describes the treatment of a patient with agenesis of the maxillary left lateral incisor. After orthodontic space management, it

Conventional wisdom advises that when a tooth needs to be extracted, the whole tooth should be removed, usually with as little surrounding bone as possible. However, the evidence to support this is not compelling, and every dentist has experienced cases where the apices of teeth are not removed for a variety of reasons and, in most cases, the patient seems to suffer no ill effects. If one extrapolates from this, it is evident that there might be instances where it is actually preferable to leave the apical part of the root rather than remove it, and this can be carried out deliberately. In the present study, we collected a family series with short root anomaly in order to analyze the inheritance pattern of the condition. Another aim was to identify in these families an association with other dental anomalies, such as tooth agenesis, peg-shaped lateral incisors, supernumeraries, ectopia, and such morphological characteristics as invaginations, taurodontism, and a tendency to root resorption. Mesiodistal dimensions of the crowns of the affected teeth were measured in order to reveal any association with reduction or increase in tooth size. The apparent genetic heterogeneity of

A clinical case of exarticulation and replantation served to discuss recent insights regarding the treatment of total avulsions of permanent teeth. A flow chart representing all treatment options is given. The tooth has been replanted in near ideal conditions; within one hour after the avulsion, the young patient attended the dental school with his avulsed tooth stored in milk. After replantation, a very simple splint was applied for only a fortnight and a provisory endodontic therapy with calcium hydroxide was performed. Adequate oral hygiene measures supported with chlorhexidine gel were ins

This retrospective study aimed to investigate the prevalence of pre-eruptive intracoronal resorption (PEIR) using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and to explore the mechanism and characteristics of PEIR development. CBCT images of patients aged ≤ 20 years with unerupted teeth at Hiroshima University Hospital were collected. We examined 1530 patients with 10,576 unerupted teeth. Teeth with PEIR were identified for the detailed location and size of the PEIR in the crown using multiplanar reconstruction. The subject and tooth prevalence rates of PEIR were 1.96% and 0.31%, respectively. The t
