Endotracheal intubation can occasionally result in acquired subglottic stenosis (ASGS) in infants and children. Twenty-one consecutive patients, ages 3 months to 13 years, with ASGS secondary to endotracheal intubation and severe enough to require tracheotomy, are reviewed. Of this population, eight cases of ASGS were refractory to endoscopic excision and dilatation. Schwannoma in primary neurogenic tumors of the trachea is an extremely rare disease. A 21-year-old male patient with stridor was followed up with a diagnosis of asthma for two years. We carried out a retrospective review of 285 cases of acute epiglottitis (180 males, 105 females, mean age 49.6 years) that required inpatients hospital care between 1998 and 2014.
