BACKGROUND: Portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is a common complication of cirrhosis. However, in patients with PVT and cirrhosis, there is no cle … eived 1250 units of danaparoid sodium twice daily by intravenous injection for 14 days. Patients on antithrombin III (AT-III) combination therapy were additionally administered 1500 units of AT-III on days 1-5 and days 8-12. INTRODUCTION: The study aimed to determine coagulation factor abnormalities in alcoholic liver disease (ALD) and correlate these with severity of liver dysfunction (Child's class) and gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding.
METHODS: 60 patients of ALD (alcohol intake >10years and clinical, biochemical or radiological evidence of chronic liver disease) were included. Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) in children is more often associated with underlying pathological conditions than with hereditary thrombophilia. The present study is a retrospective analysis of thrombophilia in 285 pediatric patients with venous thrombosis at different sites.
