Two patients are described with polyclonal IgG cryoglobulinaemia and necrotizing arteritis who developed severe lymphadenopathy which clinically mimicked malignant lymphoma. Histological studies demonstrated that the lymphadenopathy resulted from a pseudolymphomatous reaction associated with vascular damage.

The clinical and postmortem data from a 14-year-old girl who had transient embolic aorto-arteritis are presented. This disease was first described in 1974 by Peiris and Wickremasinghe in Hindu patients and is characterized by repetitive embolic occlusion of intra- and extracranial vessels of the brain, originating from focal thrombotic lesions in the aorta and its primary branches. The main histopathological lesion is located in the elastic tissue of the media in these arteries with alterations that vary from mild arteritis of the vasa vasorum to degeneration and destruction of the media which…

Incomplete clinical response or persistence of a rapid ESR despite corticosteroid treatment of polymyalgia rheumatica or temporal arteritis should always arouse suspicion and prompt a search for other diagnoses. Lumbar spinal stenosis and Pancoast's tumor are two unusual entities that can complicate or compete for the diagnosis of polymyalgia rheumatica and temporal arteritis.

A case of coccidioidal meningitis with cerebral arteritis in a nonendemic area is reported. Interesting clinical features were the difficulties in clinical diagnosis, hydrocephalus, and neurological deficits. An autopsy revealed chronic basal meningitis, cerebral arteritis, cerebral infarcts, hydrocephalus, and an old solitary pulmonary granuloma all due to Coccidioides immitis. The rare occurrence of cerebral arteritis due to C. immitis and clinicopathological correlations are discussed.
