This study aimed to obtain information on the transport form and pathway from the intestine to the peripheral tissues and on the intestinal absorption and metabolism properties of oleamide (cis-9-octadecenamide). Oleamide was primarily transported via the portal vein. Density gradient centrifugation indicated that plasma oleamide was enriched in the fractions containing albumin in the portal and peripheral blood. OBJECTIVES: The goals of the present study are to obtain, expand and characterize a stem cell population from human omentum and to evaluate its in vivo angiogenic capacities.
METHODS: Human omental CD34+ cells were obtained from samples of human omentum by density gradient centrifugation in Ficoll. OPA1 is a cause gene for autosomal dominant optic atrophy and possesses eight alternative splicing variants. Here, we identified two isoforms of OPA1 proteins in HeLa cells and examined their submitochondrial localization and complex formations. RT-PCR shows that HeLa cells mainly express isoforms 7 and 1 of OPA1. Since the third cleavage site is mainly utilized in HeLa cells, the predicted molecular masses of their processed proteins are consistent with the 93- and 88-kDa proteins. The orientation of thyroid peroxidase in hog thyroid microsomes was studied by trypsin treatment, gel filtration, binding to Concanavalin A Sepharose and iodination of thyroglobulin. Trypsin treatment of microsomes did not solubilize the thyroid peroxidase activity completely but solubilized the NADPH-cytochrome c reductase activity almost completely. As shown in our previous report surfactant lipoprotein concentration (SLPC) in amniotic fluid measured by sucrose density gradient centrifugation predicts accurately the risk of RDS. The subcellular site of oxidation of [1-14C]phytanic acid to 14CO2 was investigated in human and monkey liver. In both species, this activity was associated with fractions enriched in mitochondria. Fractions enriched in peroxisomes had no detectable phytanic acid oxidase activity.
