Eleven cases of monoclonal gammopathy associated with chronic hepato-biliary diseases are reported. The gammopathy was benign and the majority of hepato-biliary diseases consisted of cirrhosis complicated or not by hepatocellular carcinoma. The small number of cases reported and the absence of distinctive clinical, biochemical and evolutive features of the gammopathy and hepato-biliary disease suggest that the association was fortuitous.

Ninety-seven fresh explants of human tumours have been cultured in vitro in an attempt to predict their sensitivity to subsequent cytotoxic chemotherapy. Only 3/26 solid ovarian tumours were cultured successfully although 12 of the 23 which failed to grow proved later to have benign histology. PURPOSE: Purine analogs and alkylators are important agents in the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Previously, combinations of fludarabine and chlorambucil were abandoned because of increased toxicity from overlapping myelosuppression and immunosuppression. Of the purine analogs active in CLL, pentostatin may be least myelosuppressive.
