The authors reports his personal experience in performing intraluminal drainage of the common biliary duct by a two-way "Gastroduodenal-choledochal" tube, specifically realized. The author has been using this biliary drainage technique in some patients and prefers this suction method as an alternative to other in carrying out some biliary surgical procedures.

The authors have developed a new inexpensive precious metal alloy plaque for use in customized iodine-125 plaque therapy. A motion sickness device is described which produces motion sickness in about 40% of an unselected population of unrestrained female cats during a 30-min exposure at 0.28 Hz. The apparatus provides a gentle wave stimulus, similar to that provided by an amusement park Ferris Wheel. Two cats may be tested at the same time. This device is useful for studies of putative antimotion sickness drugs or the biochemical basis of the emetic response to motion.

This instrument is designed to combine the rotation advantages of the various rotating obstetric forceps with the multiple advantages of the conventional vacuum extractor in the management of persistent occipito posterior and occipito transverse positions. The design features include an elliptical shaped cup attached to a series of bars and universal joints which allow both rotational and traction forces to be applied to the foetal scalp.

PURPOSE: Dosimetry in computed tomography (CT) is increasingly based on Monte Carlo studies that define the dose in the patient (in mGy) as a function of air kerma (free in air) at isocenter (mGy). The accuracy of Monte Carlo studies depends in part on the accuracy of the characterization of the bow tie filter for a given CT scanner model. A simple method for characterizing the bow tie filter attenuation profile in CT scanners would therefore be very useful. The theory behind such a method is proposed.
