Tumor angiogenesis has been found to be prognostically significant in many types of malignant tumors. We assessed tumor vascularity in 43 cases of histologically proven primary fallopian tube cancer, FIGO stage I-IV, using the highly specific endothelial cell marker CD34. Microvessel count was determined by counting CD34-positive cells at 200 x magnification. BACKGROUND: Fallopian tube carcinoma is a rare disease, and few data about prognostic factors are available in the literature.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: The medical charts of 47 patients with primary carcinoma of the fallopian tube treated at our institution between 1982 and 1994 were reviewed. Age, stage, histologic grade, residual disease after surgery, peritoneal cytology and lymph-node involvement were evaluated for their prognostic impact in a univariate analysis.

BACKGROUND: Carcinoma of the fallopian tube is a rare gynecologic malignancy. Its histologic appearance and patterns of spread are similar to those of epithelial ovarian cancer. The 3M Precise Microvascular Anastomotic System (MAS), a microvascular stapling device, was compared with microsurgery for the reanastomosis of rabbit fallopian tubes. Differences in operative time, tubal patency, adhesion formation, and fertility rate were studied in 18 rabbits. Tubal patency was studied in 53 infertile women by means of colour-coded duplex sonography (CCDS) with transcervical injection of normal saline. In 47 women the patency was studied using a 2.5 MHz transabdominal transducer while in the last six cases, a 5.0 MHz vaginal probe was used. If a blocked fallopian tube is initially diagnosed and is cleared by simple means, and there is no clinical evidence of other pathology it is reasonable for the patient to go on and attempt to conceive for a time before any further investigation is required. This might be three to six months. A significant amount of cost and morbidity would be eliminated by this pathway, rather than the current push to laparoscopy.

A histopathologic and clinical review of the Radiumhemmet series of primary fallopian tube carcinoma (PFTC) treated from 1923 to 1991 revealed that 128 cases fulfilled the diagnostic criteria for PFTC. These cases were staged according to the new FIGO staging rules for PFTC. Survival was studied with respect to prognostic factors such as age, stage, histologic subgroups, degree of differentiation and mode of treatment. The mean age at diagnosis was 56 years. OBJECTIVE: To study the histopathological effects of silicone rubber on the human fallopian tube.
METHODS: A prospective longitudinal study at Benha University Hospital and Boulak Eldakrour General Hospital, Egypt. Nine patients who were on the waiting list for hysterectomy and requested postponing of their operation for personal reasons.

This case report describes a simple non-invasive method of Fallopian tube sperm perfusion using a paediatric Foley catheter, which does not require cannulation of the Fallopian tube and can be performed on an outpatient basis. The patient achieved an intra-uterine pregnancy with demonstrable fetal heart beats. Subsequently, use of this method in 29 treatment cycles in 14 women with unexplained infertility has resulted in six singleton and one twin ongoing clinical pregnancies.

Fertility and adhesions were examined in 41 rabbits in three treatment groups following the construction of microsurgical anastomoses with fibrin glue and by conventional suturing techniques. A 49-year-old woman presented with a profuse watery vaginal discharge 16 years after a vaginal hysterectomy. Pelvic examination revealed clear fluid leaking from the vaginal apex. We report the case of a primary carcinoma of the fallopian tube in which the diagnosis was done through laparoscopy for pelvic peritonitis. The pathologic diagnosis was possible with tubal sampling at the same time. The treatment associated radical surgery and radiotherapy. This rare kind of tumor is exceptionally diagnosed this way.

We describe the occurrence of a mature cystic teratoma of the fallopian tube discovered at laparoscopy for an ectopic pregnancy. Only five previous reports of this concurrence have been found in the medical literature. We review the reported cases of tubal teratoma and summarize all cases found with an ectopic tubal pregnancy.
