1. The aetiology of scabby hips was studied in broilers by scratching the skin with chicken claws, clipping the birds' claws and varying the effects of stocking density and food trough allocation. 2. Outbreaks of budgerigar fledgling disease (BFD) occurred in three budgerigar aviaries in Ontario. Acute death in seven to ten-day-old nestlings and feather abnormalities in birds over three weeks of age were common findings. Ascites, hepatomegaly and hydropericardium were prominent gross lesions. OBJECTIVES: To investigate the relationship between adenotonsillar hypertrophy seen in pediatric obstructive sleep apnea and upper airway allergy to airborne allergens.
METHODS: A prospective study of Radioallergosorbent (RAST) tests to common airborne allergens in children (<16 years old) undergoing adenotonsillectomy for obstructive sleep apnea in a London Teaching Hospital.
RESULTS: 20.9% of patients had a positive RAST result to house dust mite, 2.8% to cat hair, 0% to mixed feather, 7.8% to mixed grass pollen and 3.8% to dog hair.
CONCLUSIONS: This study does not support the hypothesis

Marek's disease was observed in quails. Gross lesions were confined mostly to the spleen and liver. Microscopic lesions were commonly seen in spleen, proventriculus, liver, and duodenum. Skin, peripheral nerves, and other visceral organs were also involved. Of 123 quails examined, 39 had serum antibodies against Marek's disease.
