OBJECTIVE: To investigate the therapeutic effect of flap transplantation in repairing soft tissue defects of children.
METHODS: From January 1997 to May 2002, 75 cases of different soft tissue defects (52 males and 23 females, with the age of 3-14 years) were repaired by axial and non-axial flaps transfer, and axial flaps transplantation by microvascular anastomosis. An experience of the work has shown that of 36 patients with severe defects of the hand after amputations who had been completely informed and free to decide, plastic operations were made on the majority (25) of the patients, microsurgical transplantations of toes (15) included. However 11 patients were satisfied with the prostheses alone. A complex method of rehabilitation was worked out including surgical plasty of one of the two clutch branches and the prosthezing of the other (11 patients).

The course of 16 patients with segmental and focal glomerulosclerosis (SFGS) with kidney transplantation is reported. Nigrograna spp. have been reported as an emerging cause of black grain eumycetoma in immunocompromised patients. We report a unique case of Nigrograna chromolaenae, a plant pathogen previously unreported as a cause of cutaneous infection in a human host. A 71-year-old male with prior history of cardiac transplant and multiple comorbidities presented with a nodular hand lesion with continued progression. After initial antifungal agents were unsuccessful, the addition of posaconazole resulted in improvement of symptoms.
