We studied the effect of antibodies and interferon (IFN) on L929 cells persistently infected with mumps virus (MuV). The persistent infection was maintained by horizontal transmission of the virus within the culture but was regulated by endogenously produced IFN (8). RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVE: Buprenorphine is an FDA-approved medication for opioid addiction, but the brain regions underlying its therapeutic effects remain unknown. We previously found that chronic buprenorphine treatment decreases several relapse-related behaviors in rats. Here, we tested whether chronic buprenorphine decreases the time-dependent increase (incubation) in heroin seeking during abstinence. We also used the activity marker Fos to test whether buprenorphine's inhibition of incubation of heroin seeking is associated with decreased activation of cortical and striatal regions.

The evidence for the incubation period of Legionnaires' disease is based on data from a small number of outbreaks. An incubation period of 2-10 days is commonly used for the definition and investigation of cases. In the German LeTriWa study, we collaborated with public health departments to identify evidence-based sources of exposure among cases of Legionnaires' disease within 1-14 days before symptom onset. For each individual, we assigned weights to the numbered days of exposure before symptom onset, giving the highest weight to exposure days of cases with only one possible day of exposure.
