The mechanism leading to selective production and accumulation of eosinophils in certain allergic skin diseases is unknown. Cyclophosphamide treatment (150 mg/kg) of BALB/c mice 48 h before sensitization with picryl chloride (PCl) resulted in striking blood and tissue eosinophilia, maximal at 13 days. Lichen planus annularis is a relatively rare skin manifestation of lichen planus. The mechanisms in the formation of annular lesions are not fully understood. BACKGROUND: Endothelial damage is important in meningococcal disease. Cell adhesion molecules, including P selectin, E selectin, and intercellular cell adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1), are expressed by activated endothelium and then subsequently shed.
