The recently discovered CC chemokine, regakine-1, is constitutively present in bovine serum and synergizes with the CXC chemokine interleukin-8 (IL-8) to chemoattract neutrophils. Here we show that regakine-1 cooperates with the CXC chemokine receptor 2 ligand neutrophil activating protein-2 (NAP-2) and the anaphylatoxin C5a, two other mediators of inflammation present in the circulation. AIM: Inorganic polyphosphate exists as chains of phosphate molecules and is distributed in osteoblasts, and regulates osteoblastic cell differentiation and bone matrix calcification. The purpose of this study was to clarify the effects of inorganic polyphosphate on periodontitis.

OBJECTIVE: To examine the reversibility of adipose tissue alterations in HIV-infected patients after a 6-month interruption of antiretroviral therapy (ART).
METHODS: Forty HIV-infected patients on stable effective ART were enrolled, 33 of them completed the study. Patients underwent a physical examination, laboratory tests and needle biopsy of subcutaneous abdominal adipose tissue both at inclusion and at month 6.
