Primary lymphoma of the rectum is extremely rare in children. We report here a 10-year-old boy with localized non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, discovered within a rectal polyp. The literature on childhood rectal lymphomas is reviewed. This case illustrates the importance of considering the possibility of malignancy with rectal polyps, even in children.

MATERIAL AND METHODS: A retrospective analysis included 51 patients with cancer in tubular villous colorectal adenomas cTis-T1N0M0 between 02.2019 and 09.2021. A 23-year-old male from Brazil presented with bright red hematochezia. A case of an angiomyolipoma of the large intestine occurring in a 55-year-old man without evidence of tuberous sclerosis is reported. Endoscopically, the lesion resembled a sessile adenomatous polyp. The tumor measured 1 cm. Histologic examination revealed a lesion composed predominantly of spindle and epithelioid cells with significant nuclear atypia. Mitoses were rare. The tumor was strongly positive for HMB-45, CD68, vimentin, desmin, and smooth muscle actin. Rare scattered cells reacted with CD34. No residual tumor was found in the resected colon.

Recent developments in enteroscopy have been changing the diagnostic and therapeutic algorithm for diseases of the small bowel. In particular, double-balloon endoscopy has enabled the endoscopic treatment of small-bowel diseases. A majority of vascular lesions can now be treated endoscopically. The presence or absence of arterial components provides important information for selecting endoscopic treatments. CASE HISTORY: A 66-year-old woman suffering from skin paleness and weakness presented an increasing hypochromic, microcytic anemia. Diagnostic: In an ambulant setting a capsule endoscopy of the small intestine was carried out because of multiple polyps of the colon (colonoscopy) in addition to non-invasive (Hämoccult-Test) and invasive (gastroscopy) diagnostic. The patient was then admitted to hospital to clarify a suspicious ulcer of the small bowl. According to biopsies taken via balloon enteroscopy, an adenocarcinoma of the small intestine was diagnosed.
