We report a case of thymic basaloid carcinoma in a 65-yr-old man who presented with symptoms referable to the mass effect of the tumor. The tumor arose in association with a multilocular thymic cyst and microscopically was characterized by islands, nests, and cords of basaloid cells. The tumor cells demonstrated prominent palisading around most of the neoplastic islands and nests. The tumor was excised, and there was no evidence of recurrent or metastatic disease in the 6-mo follow-up period. INTRODUCTION: Non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) is a cause of significant morbidity and mortality in high-risk individuals. Total body photography (TBP) is currently used to monitor melanocytic lesions in patients with high risk for melanoma. The authors examined if three-dimensional (3D)-TBP could be useful for diagnosis of NMSC.
METHODS: Patients (n = 129; 52 female, 77 male) with lesions suspicious for NMSC who had not yet had a biopsy underwent clinical examination followed by examination of each lesion with 3D-TBP Vectra®WB360 (Canfield Scientific, Parsippany, NJ, USA) and dermoscopy.

The aim of this study is to report our institution's experience with pediatric skin malignancies. A single institution retrospective review of pediatric patients with a primary skin malignancy from 1992 to 2020 was performed. Demographics, tumor characteristics and treatment outcomes were reviewed. Ninety-nine patients with 109 primary malignant skin lesions were reviewed. The most common lesion was malignant melanoma [MM] (n = 50, 45.9%). Compared to non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC), MM were more likely to present on trunk or extremities (p=.01, OR = 3.2), and be misdiagnosed (p=.03, OR = 2.7)

Basaloid follicular hamartoma is a benign, superficial malformation of hair follicles that can be mistaken both clinical and histopathologically for basal cell carcinoma.
