Epitheloid hemangioendothelioma (EHE) is a rare vascular neoplasm of intermediate malignant potential. EHE commonly involves lungs, liver soft tissue, and bone. EHE is extremely rare in tongue and up to our best knowledge only nine cases of EHE of tongue reported in the literature. Clinicallyو EHE usually presents as an asymptomatic mass. Microscopically, EHE exhibits proliferation of epitheloid cells and spindle shaped endothelial cells. Epitheloid cells show cytoplasmic vacuoles with few cells containing RBCs. A 34-year-old male presented to our institution with the chief complain of swellin

Renal transplant recipients exhibit an increased risk of developing plasma cell neoplasms (PCNs; comprising multiple myeloma and plasmacytoma); however, multiple myeloma manifesting with refractory extramedullary plasmacytomas associated with Epstein-Barr virus are markedly rare in these patients. In the present case report, an unusual case of refractory multiple myeloma with multiple extramedullary plasmacytoma (including liver, vertebrae, breast, muscle, skin and soft tissues) was presented. The patient exhibited mild bone marrow infiltration which was successfully treated with novel agents,

OBJECTIVE: To report a rare case of a myeloid sarcoma of submandibular salivary gland.
METHODS: A 65-year-old woman with a history of successfully treated myelodysplastic syndrome, presenting with periodic painful swelling of her right submandibular area.
RESULTS: Physical evaluation, ultrasound and CT scan revealed the presence of a 3-cm mass contiguous to the submandibular salivary gland. A core needle biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of myeloid sarcoma. Bone marrow biopsy was still showing complete remission and the submandibular gland was the only extramedullary site involved. The patient

Phosphaturic mesenchymal tumors (PMTs) are the most typical cause of tumor-induced osteomalacia (TIO) associated with mesenchymal neoplasms. Specifically, TIO is attributed to the production of phosphatonins, such as fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23), participating in the homeostasis of phosphate. Although immunohistochemistry (IHC) for FGF23 showed characteristic positive staining in PMTs, FGF23 antibodies that can be used for the reliable diagnosis of PMTs are hard to obtain in common pathology laboratories. Somatostatin receptor 2A (SSTR2A) has been previously proposed as an alternatively

Lymphoma is a malignant neoplasm of lymphoid tissue which is divided into 2 groups: Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin. About 85% of non-Hodgkin lymphomas are B-cell lymphomas, and T-cell lymphomas are unusual. Anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) is a kind of non-Hodgkin lymphoma with T or NK cell origin that is rarely seen in the oral cavity and only 10 cases have been reported up to now. Here we present a case of ALCL metastasized to the oral cavity in a 32- year- old man with pervious history of ALCL which caused an ulceration in the posterior area of the hard palate. Radiography showed irregular re

Xanthogranulomatous inflammation (XGI) is a rare, idiopathic process in which lipid-laden histiocytes are deposited at various locations in the body. Although XGI has been reported to occur in various organs such as the gallbladder, kidney, bone, stomach, colon, appendix, lymph nodes, urachus, and urinary bladder and in soft tissues, xanthogranulomatous pancreatitis (XGP) is extremely rare. Herein, we report a case of XGP occurring in a 70-yr-old woman, who presented with abdominal pain for several months. On physical examination, mild epigastric tenderness was noted. Abdomen CT scan revealed

Teratoma is a true neoplasm that consists of tissues from all 3 embryonic germ layers: ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm. Nasopharyngeal teratoma is very rare and accounts for only 2% of all teratomas. We present 2 cases of nasopharyngeal teratomas associated with cleft palate in newborns. The first case was a mushroom-like teratoma arising from the base of the sphenoid bone with cleft soft palate. This case was unique and interesting because no earlier paper has reported a teratoma with such a clinical feature. The second case was a teratoma from the nasal septum of an incomplete cleft palate.

Actinomycosis is a rare, chronic suppurative infection caused by filamentous, Gram-positive anaerobic bacteria, primarily Actinomyces israelii, with cervicofacial involvement being the most common presentation. Periapical actinomycosis, a rare central subtype of cervicofacial actinomycosis accounting for approximately 1-2% of central cases, is characterized by an indolent, less invasive course. This case report describes an unusual presentation of mandibular periapical actinomycosis in a 26-year-old immunocompetent female with no history of trauma or predisposing comorbidities. The patient pre

In this study the X chromosome probe M27 beta was used to investigate DNA methylation at the DXS255 locus and hence X inactivation status and determination of tumour clonality in blood, bone marrow and biopsy tissue involved with morphologically and phenotypically defined lymphoid and myeloid disease from 14 female patients along with uninvolved bone marrow from two control individuals. Thirteen out of 16 individuals (81%) were restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) heterozygous for DXS255. DNA methylation status could not be assessed in the three DXS255 homozygous individuals. In eig

Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) is a rare and aggressive hematologic malignancy typically involving the skin, bone marrow, and central nervous system. Ocular adnexal involvement is exceedingly rare. We present a novel case of a 74-year-old man with BPDCN in remission following autologous stem cell transplantation who developed sequential ocular adnexal recurrences. He initially presented with a protuberant lesion of the right caruncle, followed by new lesions of the left lacrimal gland and right subconjunctival space. Histopathologic analysis confirmed BPDCN recurrence. No

Solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma of the kidney is an exceptionally rare plasma cell neoplasm and may closely mimic renal cell carcinoma on imaging. A woman in her late 50s was incidentally found to have a left renal mass during evaluation for non-specific abdominal discomfort. Cross-sectional imaging revealed a multiloculated cystic renal lesion with enhancing walls, raising concern for primary renal malignancy. CT-guided biopsy demonstrated sheets of plasma cells with kappa light-chain restriction. Comprehensive evaluation, including serum studies, positron emission tomography-CT and bone

BACKGROUND: Extramedullary plasmacytoma (EMP) is an extremely rare kind of soft tissue plasma cell neoplasm without bone marrow involvement or other systemic characteristics of multiple myeloma. Primary pulmonary plasmacytoma (PPP), with no specific clinical manifestations, is an exceedingly rare type of EMP. Because of its complexity, PPP is often difficult to diagnose. Computed tomography-guided percutaneous core needle biopsy (CT-guided PCNB) has been shown to have high sensitivity, specificity and accuracy for characterization of pulmonary lesion, particularly if malignancy is suspected. Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EHE) is a low-grade, malignant vascular neoplasm that frequently involves the liver, lungs, bone, and soft tissue. Although not commonly associated with a paraneoplastic syndrome, paraneoplastic syndromes in the setting of EHE have been reported. Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is an acute, autoimmune, demyelinating disorder of the central nervous system that most commonly occurs after an infection or vaccination. We present the case of a 23 year old female who developed the acute onset of fevers, tremors, right sided hemiplegia, global aphasia, an

Osteoid osteoma is a benign neoplasm commonly found in young men, but that can be found in every age, which affects mainly long bones, clinically characterized by continuous and limiting pain that is relieved by salicylates. It is a small lesion composed of immature osteoid tissue, central hypervascularization and surrounding sclerotic area. Its diagnosis is performed by the clinic and aided by imaging tests, such as common radiography and computed tomography. Radiography shows a central radiolucent lesion and peripheral sclerosis. The biopsy takes place only in cases of diagnostic doubt. Surg

INTRODUCTION: Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma (EHE) is a rare vascular neoplasm. Common locations of EHE are the bone, soft tissue, liver, and lung, but the mediastinal location is extremely rare. Few cases of mediastinal EHE, invading the Superior Vena Cava (SVC) have been reported.
CASE PRESENTATION: We report a case of a 21-year-old man with EHE invading the SVC, which was incidentally detected on performing chest radiography. A contrast-enhanced chest Computed Tomography (CT) scan demonstrated a well-defined, oval mass located on the right side of the anterior mediastinum. The mass showe

Hematopoietic stem cells differentiate into all types of blood cells, including peripheral tissue-resident mast cells. The early mast cell differentiation takes place in the bone marrow, after which the progenitor cells enter the circulation and mature once reaching their target organ. Early results from single-cell culture experiments and colony-forming assays have produced the classic hierarchical tree model of hematopoiesis. The introduction of high-throughput, single-cell RNA sequencing is now revolutionizing our understanding of the differentiation process, questioning the classic tree-ba

Reports of neoplasia in captive reptiles are becoming more frequent; however, there is still scarce knowledge of the occurrence of neoplasia in wild reptiles. A wild black rat snake (Pantherophis alleghaniensis) was presented to the Zoological Medicine service of the University of Georgia's Veterinary Teaching Hospital with a 3 cm in diameter solid mandibular mass that was partially ulcerated. Radiographically, the mass was radiopaque with small bone spicules and partial osteolysis of the adjacent mandible. Histologic examination of the mass revealed a neoplasm composed of cuboidal to polygona

UNLABELLED: The primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) belongs to a group of highly malignant tumors and is composed of small round cells of a neuroectodermal origin. Categorized in the same tumor family as Ewing sarcoma, the PNET is most likely to occur in bones and soft tissues. However, a small number of PNET cases arising in the pelvis have been reported as well.
WE PRESENT THREE CASES OF PELVIC PNET: two cases in the ovary and one case in the broad ligament. The PNET often exhibits aggressive clinical behavior with worse outcomes than other small round cell tumors. The significant progno

Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) is a common mucocutaneous manifestation of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Primary bone lesions have been reported but are rare. A 38-year-old African-American male who was human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive appeared for the evaluation of an asymptomatic well-defined radiolucency of the mandibular midline discovered on routine radiographic examination. The adjacent central incisors were asymptomatic, nonmobile, and vital. The overlying mucosa and cortical plate were intact. Excision of the lesion revealed a fleshy, pink-red soft tissue mass with a unif

Cutaneous sarcomas and sarcoma-like lesions pose special problems for pathologists. These lesions manifest a great deal of clinical and histological overlap, and they may be virtually impossible to separate from one another on conventional microscopy. Spindle-cell squamous carcinoma (SCSC), sarcomatoid malignant melanoma (SCMM), and fibrohistiocytic tumors, such as "atypical fibroxanthoma" (AFX) and superficial malignant fibrous histiocytoma (SMFH), comprise the group of neoplasms in this category that pose the greatest diagnostic difficulty. All may or may not show attachments between dermal
