OBJECTIVE: To observe and summarize the clinical effect of nasal septum surgery combined with multi-sinus surgery and to discuss the safety and feasibility.
METHOD: Fifty-six patients with nasal sinuses and nasal cavity diseases received nasal septal reconstruction, Caldwell-Lue procedure, polypectomy, ethmoidectomy and partial middle or inferior turbinate resection simultaneously under local anesthesia, and the complications after surgery were observed.

AIM: To clarify the trends in infective endocarditis by our experience for 40 years.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: During the last 40 years (1965-2005) we observed 620 patients with infective endocarditis (IE). There were 615 patients with subacute IE (99.2%) and only 5 patients with acute IE (0.8%). There were 402 males (66.8%) and 218 females (35.2%). The age was 16-84 years (mean age 53 +/- 17). OBJECTIVE: To observe analgesic effect of scalp acupuncture on labor.
METHODS: Seventy primiparae with term pregnancy and monocyesis were randomly divided into scalp acupuncture group treated by acupuncture at the Shengzhi area of scalp, and control group by no treatment. Pain grades before and after scalp acupuncture were evaluated with the pain 4-grade rating criteria stipulated by WHO, and the active stage and the second birth process, the Apgar scores of new-born and postpartum hemorrage amount were compared between the two groups.

OBJECTIVE: To observe therapeutic effect of point embedding thread on chloasma.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficiency and safety of transcatheter uterine artery embolization (TUAE) for uterine myomas.
METHODS: Thirty-eight cases of uterine myomas were treated by TUAE using lipiodol-pingyangmycin emulsion. 5 of 38 cases underwent hysterectomy or myomectomy from 1 to 3 weeks after TUAE.
