[Occupationally-induced pneumopathies].

Today chronic obstructive airways diseases rank amongst the most important occupational pneumopathies in Switzerland. As far as asthma is concerned, the baker's (flour) and the spray painter's (Isocyanates) types are the most important. Despite their frequent occurrence the two forms of asthma seem to differ in their pathogenetic mechanisms. Due to technical precautions another type of occupational pneumopathology namely pneumoconiosis was considerably reduced. Among asbestos induced diseases the cases of asbestosis are decreasing. However, there still are quite a lot of events of malignant me

Effect of occupation on assisted reproduction outcomes in an oocyte donor model.

Previous studies have linked workplace conditions, including chemical and physical exposures, and reproductive health outcomes in women. Our study included 603 oocyte donors who underwent 967 controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) cycles for planned oocyte vitrification between 2008 and 2020. Cohorts of oocytes were then thawed and fertilized with resultant embryos utilized by intended parents. In our cohort of young, healthy oocyte donors, those employed in "healthcare practitioners and technical" occupations and in "office and administrative support" roles had lower ovarian reserve testin

Effect of occupational therapy on the occurrence of delirium in critically ill patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

AIM: Delirium poses a major challenge to global health care, yet there is currently a dearth of single effective interventions or medications. Particularly, addressing delirium induced by critical illness is a complex process. Occupational therapy is considered to have a high potential for use in the prevention of delirium, as it involves both cognitive training and training in ADL. To comprehensively analyze the effect of occupational therapy on delirium prevention, we evaluated the effects of occupational therapy vs. standard non-pharmacological prevention on incidence and duration of deliri

Co-design and mixed methods evaluation of an interdisciplinary digital resource for undergraduate health profession students to improve the prevention, recognition, and management of delirium in Ireland: a study protocol.

BACKGROUND: Delirium is a common symptom of acute illness which is potentially avoidable with early recognition and intervention. Despite being a growing concern globally, delirium remains underdiagnosed and poorly reported, with limited understanding of effective delirium education for undergraduate health profession students. Digital resources could be an effective approach to improving professional knowledge of delirium, but studies utilising these with more than one profession are limited, and no evidence-based, interdisciplinary, digital delirium education resources are reported. This stu

Bridging the Gap Between Rehabilitation and Return to Work: A Qualitative Evaluation of a Workplace Intervention for Low Back Pain.

BACKGROUND: Low back pain (LBP) can lead to disability and sick leave, impacting work participation and overall health. Given the complex and multifactorial nature of LBP, Belgium's Federal Agency for Occupational Risks (FEDRIS) promotes a secondary prevention strategy for LBP among workers engaged in ergonomically demanding tasks. This strategy includes multidisciplinary-based rehabilitation and an optional workplace intervention (WPI), initiated upon employer request. The WPI component consists of a half-day ergonomic risk analysis at the workplace conducted by an external occupational healt
