Periosteal reaction with new bone formation in a child is a radiographic finding with an extensive differential diagnosis. The present case is that of a child who presented with a clinical syndrome of fever, bone pain in the forearm and leg, bony tenderness in these areas, radiographic evidence of a periosteal reaction in both tibiae and ulnae, and an abnormality of serum proteins. PURPOSE: Evaluate different surgical techniques in the management of the contracted anophthalmic socket.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: A retrospective study including 12 patients with acquired anophthalmic socket presenting inadequate fornices and/or orbital volume loss. We treated a 76-year-old man who had an epithelial carcinoma that involved the canaliculus and extended into the lacrimal sac. This infiltrating papillary squamous cell carcinoma histologically demonstrated the most rapid and destructive recurrence of any such tumor originating in the lacrimal system.

Subperiosteal orbital haematoma (SOH) is an uncommon condition that involves bleeding within the potential space between the periosteum and orbital bone.
