Per-cutaneously inserted catheter drainage is an accepted treatment modality for a large amoebic liver abscess. Complications that can arise are; secondary infection, bleeding into the abscess cavity, inadvertent catheter misplacement into the IVC and rupture of abscess with spillage into the peritoneal cavity. We report a case of a large amoebic liver abscess that presented with complications related to per-cutaneously inserted catheter drainage.

Brugia pahangi adults grown in the peritoneal cavities of jirds (Meriones unguiculatus) were implanted into the peritoneal cavities of six inbred mouse strains to investigate this system as a screen for detecting filaricidal activity. The mice were given 15 adult B. pahangi and autopsied 35 days later. The recoveries of adult worms were 25%, 35%, 49%, 33%, 26% and 27% of the number implanted respectively for the MF1, TO, NIH, CBA, BALB/c and C3H/HE strains. OBJECTIVE: To test the hypothesis that testicular maldescent is rarely congenital in the absence of a complete hernial sac.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: The study comprised 110 boys undergoing orchidopexy. Operative findings (complete hernial sac versus no hernial sac) were compared with recorded testicular descent at birth.
RESULTS: Among 70 testes recorded as maldescended neonatally there was no example without a complete hernial sac at orchidopexy. Among 60 recorded as descended neonatally, 43 had no sac at orchidopexy.

The Chilaiditi syndrome or viscero hepato diaphragmatic interposition is a rare anomaly. The authors describe one case they observed. Even if it is often asymptomatic, it may manifest also by recurrent sub-occlusion or occlusion. Only a few patients need corrective surgical operation. Rats were successfully infected with Japanese Fasciola sp. by transplantation of juvenile worms (JW) or metacercariae (MC) into the abdominal cavity. Moreover, the rat was investigated on its suitability for different experiments with liver flukes. JWs or MCs transplanted intraperitoneally (IP) matured in the bile duct of rats. The authors report a case of a tumoral form of ascariasis in a 7-year-old boy, simulating a benign neoplasm. Microscopic examination revealed a marked granulomatous inflammatory reaction associated with dense fibroblastic proliferation and abscess formation around viable, embryonated Ascaris lumbricoides eggs. Pathogenesis of this rare clinical form of ascariasis is discussed.
