Captopril is an antihypertensive drug that works by inhibiting the angiotensin-converting enzyme and provokes increased levels of plasma quinine. In the case here reported a picture of pityriasis rosea-like reaction is described. The frequency of the observed and reported reactions by captopril suggests a particular caution in the use of this drug.

A patient presented with a typical pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta (PLEVA) and disclosed serological evidence of an active and recent toxoplasmosis. Specific treatment of toxoplasmosis promptly and definitively resolved PLEVA lesions. Serological tests for Toxoplasma gondii should be performed in all PLEVA patients.

Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are a significant cause of morbidity and represent an important public health concern. Cutaneous adverse drug reactions (CADRs) are the most frequently encountered form of ADRs, with antibiotics being among the leading causative drug classes. Although amoxicillin-clavulanate is widely regarded as a safe and commonly prescribed antibiotic, rare and atypical cutaneous reactions may occur and pose diagnostic challenges. We report a rare case of amoxicillin-clavulanate-induced pityriasis rosea in a 34-year-old male who presented with a progressive pruritic and painful…

Mycosis fungoides (MF) is a neoplasm of the immune system. It is a cutaneous lymphoma originating in the peripheral epidermotropic T-cells, specifically the memory T-cells (CD45RO+). The etiology of MF is indefinite, but various factors, such as genetic and epigenetic abnormalities, environmental and occupational exposure to chemicals, infections, and cytokines (interleukin [IL]-2, IL-4, etc.), play a vital role. Pityriasis lichenoides (PL), such as MF, is a rare subtype that is presented with skin lesions similar to that of PL.

Pityriasis versicolor (PV) also referred to as Peter Elam's disease or tinea versicolor is caused by the Malassezia species which is a chronic-relapsing widespread mycosis. The most common sites involved are the shoulders, upper arms, back, upper trunk, and chest. Atrophying PV is a very rare variant that has rarely been reported in the Indian literature. Hence, in this case report, a 29-year-old male presented with chief complaints of multiple asymptomatic, light-colored lesions over his chest, shoulder, and arms for three months. On examination, multiple well-defined hypopigmented macules of…

Pityriasis lichenoides chronica (PLC) is an uncommon inflammatory skin condition of unknown cause that ranges from a mild chronic form to a more severe acute eruption. Both forms usually involve the skin of the trunk and proximal extremities, and visceral involvement is not a well-described phenomenon. Here, we report a case of PLC that presented with esophageal involvement that occurred after a period of discontinuation of PLC treatment. The histological pattern of involvement is in the form of lymphocytic esophagitis, a non-specific pattern with a broad differential diagnosis. Awareness of t…
