Plastics and glues are common causes of occupational dermatoses, but only few reports have dealt with patch-test reactions caused by plastic and glue allergens. Patients exposed to plastics and remitted to an occupational dermatology clinic, were patch-tested with 50-53 plastic and glue allergens during a 6-year period. Rehabilitation of hearing in the child with congenital microtia and aural atresia is a fundamental part of the total reconstructive process. Not all children with microtia, however, are candidates for atresia repair. The article presents data of 78 patients with hiatal hernias. Surgical treatment was used in 71 of them. A method of plasty is proposed which was used in 55 patients. An analysis of immediate and remote results has shown that the method proposed is highly radical and allows obtaining good clinical effects.

An acute plastic bowing deformity (APBD) represents a subtle form of an acute fracture. This entity was not formally recognized until recently when Borden demonstrated the almost imperceptible deformity radiographically. While found in both the adult and pediatric populations, the biomechanical properties of children's bones make them more prone to this injury. In either population, the lack of an obvious cortical defect lends this injury to misdiagnosis, mismanagement, and subsequent complications.

The number and nature of allergic occupational glove dermatoses were analysed. 542 cases of allergic contact dermatosis were diagnosed during 1974-1983. Amongst these, 68 (12.5%) were caused by rubber or plastic gloves. 2 patients had contact urticaria due to rubber gloves. Since 1978, 300 children with Down's syndrome have received plastic- and aesthetic-surgical corrections of the face--to the tongue, nose, and less frequently, ears and chin--so that they will be less conspicuous. The parents' satisfaction in 95% of the cases indicates that the children's situation has been improved by the operations. The children are less stigmatized and their social integration became easier.
