We describe a case of multiple polypoid lesions that occurred in the colon of a 62-year-old man. Eight of the lesions were demonstrated by barium enema, and five were examined histologically. A small nodule in the submucosa of the ascending colon was histologically identical to granular cell tumor, characterized by nested growth of large tumor cells with ample granular cytoplasm and small round nuclei. Immunohistochemically, the cells were positive for S-100, neuron-specific enolase and vimentin, and negative for alpha-smooth muscle actin and desmin.

A spontaneous tumor was observed in the maxillary gland of a 12-week-old male BALB/c F1 hybrid mouse. Histopathologically, the tumor invaded both the nasal cavity and maxillary sinus, and ethmoturbinates were destroyed. A case of renal angiomyolipoma composed primarily of smooth muscle element is presented. It was a solitary small tumor without evidence of tuberous sclerosis. The imaging findings including ultrasonography, computerized tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and angiography were not characteristic of angiomyolipoma, but suggestive of atypical renal cell carcinoma, and a simple nephrectomy was performed. The diagnostic considerations, particularly imaging features of angiomyolipoma, are discussed.

OBJECTIVES: Our understanding of a variant type of leiomyoma lags far behind of leiomyoma/leiomyosarcoma of the uterus. The rarity of varian … nting symptom was menometrorrhagia (38.9%). Four point nine percent of cellular leiomyoma, 14.2% of smooth muscle tumors of uncertain malignant potential (STUMP) and 4.7% of atypical leiomyomas were recurred with clinical follow-up.
CONCLUSIONS: Clinicians should be aware of variant type leiomyomas and their associated clinical, imaging, and pathologic issues.

OBJECTIVE: Nuclear factor (NF)-kappaB is a ubiquitous transcription factor that can be activated by multiple signals. To elucidate the role of NF-KB and the effects of NF-kappaB inhibitor on ureteric damages in obstructive uropathy, we conducted this study.

OBJECTIVE: To describe a case of para-urethral leiomyoma and to review the literature.
METHODS: The usual preoperative diagnostic procedures and clinical manifestations are discussed.
RESULTS: The mass was resected and, 6 years later, the patient remains asymptomatic and with no recurrence.
CONCLUSIONS: Urethral or paraurethral leiomyomas are benign tumors that arise from the urethral or vaginal smooth muscle. Radiological findings (particularly magnetic resonance imaging) may suggest the origin of the tumor before surgery; however, the final diagnosis is determined by histology.
