We present four patients with tetralogy of Fallot, imaged with magnetic resonance. MRI is useful in clearly depicting the dilated ascending aorta, the infundibular stenosis, ventricular septal defect, right ventricular hypertrophy and dilated bronchial arteries. The pulmonary outflow tract can be visualized better with MR imaging than with ultrasound.

We present two cases of gastrointestinal perforation associated with a tiny extraluminal air bubble on computed tomography (CT). The air bubble was located at the round ligament of the liver in a patient of perforated duodenal ulcer and at the intraperitoneal space adjacent to the perforated site of the anterior gastric wall in the other patient. A prospective investigation of 52 children with infantile spasms was carried out employing computed tomography. Normal conditions were demonstrated in 21 (40%). Among the 31 children with pathological computed tomografic findings, dilatation of the ventricular system and/or subarachnoid space was found in nine cases (17%), congenital malformations in ten (19%) and cerebrovascular changes in a similar number (19%). The authors argue that CT is superior to other imaging techniques for the examination of the bones and soft tissues of the chest wall. They also note the importance of CT in planning therapy for lesions involving these structures. In support of these theses they present computed tomograms showing 26 different types of lesion involving the chest wall ranging from sternal fracture to malignant fibrous histiocytoma. Malignant neoplasms involving the chest wall by metastasis or direct extension from the breast, lung or mediastinum are emphasized.

The aim of this study was to find out if laryngeal obstruction could be assessed by measuring the glottic area using computed tomography (CT). Results from model studies were compared with those from twelve patients with laryngeal diseases. Determination of the orolaryngeal airway resistance (Rol) was used as a reference method. In 29 patients with abdominal pain the diagnosis of pancreas divisum (PD) was verified by endoscopic retrograde pancreatography (ERP) via both the major and the minor papilla. Actinomycosis causes disease in multiple organ systems and involves the abdomen approximately 20% of the time. We report a case of a 48-yr-old woman with a large abdominal mass secondary to actinomycosis. The patient demonstrates the clinical and pathologic features of this disease, as well as the role of evaluation by barium examination and computed tomography (CT). A discussion of abdominal actinomycosis is included.

The hospital records of 24 patients with periampullary neoplasms were reviewed. The clinical triad of jaundice, pain, and weight loss and the radiographic imaging triad of dilated biliary ducts, dilated pancreatic duct, and periampullary mass should suggest the diagnosis of periampullary neoplasm.

The computed tomography findings of 10 patients with neutropenic colitis are described and illustrated. Seven of these patients had leukemia, one had lymphocytic lymphoma, and two had systemic lupus erythematosus. All patients had colon wall thickening which was either isodense with the normal bowel tissue or showed areas of intramural low density. Air in the thickened bowel wall was seen in six patients. Isolated congenital macrodactyly, termed macrodystrophia lipomatosa, is a rare entity. It may be confused with plexiform neurofibroma, hemangioma, or lymphangioma. Computed tomography provides an ideal methodology to verify the fatty proliferation of soft tissue that accompanies bone overgrowth and distinguishes this lesion from the others in the differential list.
