Alveolar ridge preservation with lyophilized microspheres of human dental pulp stem cells following 3D dynamic osteogenic induction.

The clinical use of bone graft materials for alveolar ridge preservation following tooth extraction has become a standard procedure to facilitate subsequent implant restoration and prosthetic rehabilitation. However, the therapeutic efficacy of these materials is substantially limited by their bio-inertness, lack of cellular activity, and unpredictable resorption rates. The development of bioactive osteogenic materials capable of host integration and active promotion of bone regeneration would represent a significant advancement over current clinical protocols. To address this challenge, our r

A histologic and histomorphometric evaluation of anorganic bovine bone retrieved 9 years after a sinus augmentation procedure.

BACKGROUND: Anorganic bovine bone (ABB) has been shown to have osteoconductive properties and no inflammatory or adverse responses as grafting materials used in sinus augmentation procedures. Despite these successful results, histologic data in humans over the long-term period are scarce. The purpose of this study was to analyze the histomorphometric data 9 years after surgery in a case of maxillary sinus augmentation using ABB. METHODS: The histologic evaluation was performed in five different thin sections of the specimen, comparing histomorphometric measures for newly formed bone, marrow s

Comparing Bone Graft Success, Implant Survival Rate, and Marginal Bone Loss: A Retrospective Study on Materials and Influential Factors.

Bone grafting serves to restore the alveolar bone defect, providing adequate alveolar bone essential for long-term implant survival. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the success rate of guided bone regeneration (GBR) bone grafting and investigate the survival rate of implants and the degree of marginal bone loss (MBL) around implants. Furthermore, the influence of confounding factors such as patient conditions, bone graft properties, and implant characteristics was assessed. This study was carried out on treatment outcomes of patients with implants between January 2007 and December 2

Safety and Feasibility of Extended Platelet-Rich Fibrin as a Solo Barrier Membrane for Ridge Preservation: A Case Series.

INTRODUCTION: Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) has been commonly utilized for ridge preservation techniques either to introduce supraphysiological concentrations of autologous growth factors to the defect area (typically when mixed within a bone graft) or utilized alone as a solo "barrier" membrane. Noteworthy, however, one of the commonly reported drawbacks of PRF is its relatively short resorption period characterized by lasting roughly 2 weeks. This may therefore be insufficient for complete soft tissue closure and/or preventing soft tissue cells from infiltrating into the bony compartment. Recen

Allograft Customized Bone Block in the Edentulous Maxilla: A 6-Month CBCT Analysis and 15-Month Follow-up.

Maxillary atrophy is relatively common among long-term edentulous patients, especially in older adults. Severe forms, although less prevalent, are still frequently encountered in implant and prosthodontic practice, particularly in patients who have been without teeth for many years or who have worn poorly fitting dentures. This case report presents the treatment of a 77-year-old female smoker who had been missing her teeth for 22 years and had a non-functional prosthesis. The article describes the vertical and horizontal gain in the patient's edentulous maxilla utilizing allograft customized b
