The renal proximal tubule (PT) in many ways resembles an APC. The PT is one of the few epithelial cells in the body reported to constitutively express the class II MHC molecules required to present Ag to CD4+ T cells. OBJECTIVE: Body image disturbance is an important factor in the development and the treatment of eating disorders. Therefore, evaluations of different instruments for measuring body image disturbances are necessary.
METHOD: Four widely used questionnaires are evaluated: The Body Attitude Test, The Eating Disorder Inventory, The Body Shape Questionnaire, and the Body Attitude Questionnaire. Psychometric properties of these questionnaires are investigated in 228 patients with eating disorder and 389 female controls. Normative values for a Flemish population are provided.

OBJECTIVE: To analyse the association between nutritional and familial factors and obesity in boys and girls.
DESIGN: Randomized, cross-sectional population study.
SETTING: Province de Luxembourg, Belgium.
SUBJECTS: One thousand and twenty-eight boys and girls in age strata 6-8, 8-10 and 10-12 y, comprising 70.3% of primary cohort.
METHODS: Examinations included anthropometric measurements and questionnaires covering familial, socioeconomic and psychosocial factors. A three day dietary record was obtained in 955 children. This was analysed in relation to the anthropometric data.

PURPOSE: To evaluate and correlate anthropometric, biometric, and refractive error changes in thalassemia major (TM).
METHODS: One hundred children with TM and another hundred healthy controls were recruited. Height, weight, body mass index (BMI), and occipitofrontal circumference (OFC) were the anthropometric parameters recorded. The relationship between bone mineral content (BMC) divided by bone width (BW) and diet and lifestyle in early adulthood were investigated from the view point of preventing osteoporosis at a young age in Asian women. BMC/BW of 161 healthy Asian women aged 19-25 y were measured by single-photon absorptiometry. Current and past dietary habits and physical activity were also studied. BMC/BW varied from 0.21 to 0.48 g/cm2. Bone density correlated well with dietary habit from infancy to the present especially with calcium and past physical activity.
