Enzyme immunoassay (EIA) is often the initial test performed for diagnosing coccidioidomycosis by serology. When EIA immunoglobulin G (IgG) optical density (OD) positive results were compared to immunodiffusion complement-fixation (IDCF) titer among 339 unique patient samples, there was only moderate correlation (R2 = 0.5345; P < 0.001). Cultures, serology, and immunohistochemical tests for Campylobacter jejuni were performed on 74 patients with inflammatory bowel disease of various disease activity and in healthy and diseased control populations. Glanders caused by Burkholderia mallei is one of the most dangerous zoonotic diseases in solipeds. Clinical diagnosis of this disease in its early stages in horses, is difficult. This study investigated serological and molecular identification of B. mallei in East Azerbaijan province. Our previous study found mistakes by some doctors in the choice of an assay for determining antibodies in Japan. To compare the positivity rates for antibodies by assays, we measured the antibodies of measles, rubella, chickenpox and mumps from the same sera using such methods as the EIA, HI and CF assays. Antileptospiral sera from hyperimmunized horses were fractionated by gel filtration on Sephadex G-200 or by starch block electrophoresis. Each of 212 sera, taken from 129 patients with clinically established syphilis, was subjected to seven immunological tests.
