In this study, a conductometric titration method is proposed for the determination of phenothiazine derivatives in pure and dosage forms. The measurements were carried out in aqueous solution using sodium arsenite as titrant. The breaks in conductometric titration curves have been advantageously utilised for the quantitative determination of these drugs in pharmaceutical preparations. The method was found highly accurate and precise, having a relative standard deviation of less than 1.0% for all solutions containing from 1 to 25 mg of phenothiazine derivative compounds.

The present work describes a quantitative thin layer procedure for estimating primidone, clorazepate dipotassium and chlorzoxazone in bulk powders and in dosage forms, each in the presence of its degradation product. The method consists of dissolving the drug in ethanol (for primidone), or methanol (for clorazepate dipotassium and chlorzoxazone) and then spotting this solution on a thin layer of silica gel G254. Quantitation is achieved by comparing the areas under the peaks obtained from scanning the thin layer chromatographic plates in a spectrodensitometer.

Sarcoptes scabiei is an ectoparasite known to infect different species of mammals. Mite is known to infect mankind since antiquity. Current scabicidal agents are becoming less effective due to resistance generated by the mite. The present review focuses on exploration of various herbal and non-herbal/synthetic agents that are proven to be efficient against scabies mite of different mammalian species. In vitro and in vivo acaricidal activities carried out for different dosage forms developed for these scabicidal agents are also discussed.

BACKGROUND: African Americans with seborrheic dermatitis may manifest associated hypopigmenation. Corticosteroids and antifungals are often used for treatment, yet chronic use of corticosteroids may be associated with skin atrophy, increased intraocular pressure, or further hypopigmenation. Pimecrolimus has been used successfully in a few patients with seborrheic dermatitis.
OBJECTIVES: This open-label, pilot trial assessed the efficacy and tolerability of pimecrolimus in the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis in African Americans with hypopigmentation.
