In a 48-year-old man with dysuria and microscopic haematuria, pyelography, cystoscopy and bimanual bladder palpation showed no definite abnormality. Because of continued symptoms, ultrasound scanning of the abdomen was done three months later. The examination revealed a tumour in close relation to the top of the bladder. Malignant cells were aspirated at ultrasonically guided puncture, and a urachus tumour was suspected. For early diagnosis of urachus tumours, ultrasound investigation of vague bladder symptoms is required.

Foreign bodies in the urethra can occur by self-insertion, and patients often hide the symptoms due to embarrassment. Foreign bodies act as a focus for infection and abscess formation and result in perforation or fistula when not detected on time. Foreign bodies can display symptoms such as frequent urination, dysuria, hematuria, urethrorrhagia, and obstruction. This case discusses a self-inserted urethral sewing needle that was removed cystoscopically from an adolescent.

Plasmacytoid urothelial carcinoma is an extremely rare pathological finding. We report our experience of one case. A 60 year old male with hematuria of two years evolution, with frequency and dysuria. A tumor was found and he received surgical treatment by TURB at first. The pathology result was a plasmacytoid urothelial carcinoma. Subsequently a radical cystectomy with urinary diversion was performed. The patient received follow-up until his death.

A 42-year-old male presented to the urology department, complaining of frequency and dysuria. A large number of calculi were revealed on IVU and USS. On endoscopic investigation, there were 3 stones (1.5 × 1 cm) found in the bladder and 5 more (1.5 × 0.8 cm) in the diverticulum of the posterior urethra. All of the stones were successfully broken down via a transurethral approach. This paper contains a detailed description of the case.

A 65-year-old man was admitted with penile tenderness and dysuria due to priapism. Enhanced computed tomography revealed metastatic tumors in the liver, lung, sacrum and lymph nodes. Advanced rectal cancer, detected by colonoscopy as a primary tumor, was treated with chemotherapy (FOLFOX4). Although the rectal cancer showed no change, five months of chemotherapy improveid the priapism, suggesting that chemotherapy can improve rare symptoms of rectal cancer.

A 36-year-old patient, proceeding from an endemic area was admitted with episodes of total microscopic hematuria and terminal dysuria. Cytoscopy showed a protuberant tumor in the bladder anterior wall, suggestive of cancer. Biopsy revealed schistosomiasis mansoni. Transurethral resection confirmed the diagnosis. The patient was clinically treated and cured with oxamniquine. The case presented in this work emphasizes that not all the tumors of bladder with microscopic hematuria are bladder cancers.

A 3-year-old male child was admitted with complaints of dysuria and dribbling of urine since birth. There was a small plum sized swelling, on the ventral surface of penis, which increased in size during micturition and on compression of the swelling urine dribbled out. Voiding cysto-urethrogram showed posterior urethral valves with scaphoid megalo-urethra. Vesicostomy with fulguration of the valves and one year later reduction urethroplasty were performed.

When certain strictures which have been treated for a long time start to bleed, the possibility of carcinoma should be considered. However, cancer may present in the form of more recent and deteriorating dysuria. The diagnosis is based on urethrography which shows a narrow and tortuous pass. Biopsy should be performed under urethroscopic guidance. The cancer is usually in the bulbomembranous segment. Treatment is disappointing. Wide excision is very badly disabling.

The aut horsdescribe the technique and the first results of para-sphincteric anaesthetic infiltrations of the striate sphincter of the urethra in paraplegics. These infiltrations may decrease, or even cause to disappear altogether, dysuria as long as the striate sphincter is alone responsible and that the straite sphincter muscle is not the process of fibrosis. In certain special cases, this simple technique may have a durable effect which makes it possible to avoid definitive procedures such as endoscopic or surgical section.
