It has not been verified whether allopurinol application is beneficial in decreasing the severity of radiation-induced oral mucositis and dermatitis. Rats were divided into 4 groups and received 15 Gy irradiation on the left whisker pad. Group 1 received only irradiation. Group 2 was maintained by applying allopurinol/carrageenan-mixed gel (allopurinol gel) continuously from 2 days before to 20 days after irradiation. Using trimethyl phosphate and calcium nitrate tetrahydrate as the calcium and phosphorus precursors, respectively, HA films were prepared layer by layer by a sol-gel method. The phase constitution, microstructure and calcium/phosphorus (Ca/P) molar ratio of the sol-gel films were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and electronic probe microanalysis (EPMA). A 78-year-old man with coagulopathy and lower urinary tract symptoms secondary to benign prostatic hyperplasia underwent transurethral prostate ethanol gel injection. Six months after the injection, the patient presented with irritative symptoms and hematuria. Ultrasonography revealed a 5-cm intravesical calculus. METHODS: We have ameliorated Hansburgh and Middelkoop's method of manufacturing artificial dermis. The type I collagenase and Dispase were used to isolated neonate prepuce' dermis fibroblast. To prevent caries and periodontal disease in overdenture abutment teeth, daily application of chlorhexidine gel is recommended. In order to get insight into the use of the gel, 29 overdenture wearing patients were interviewed. In addition the patients were requested to show the use of the gel. It was concluded that at any time the patients were instructed about the use of the gel. Nevertheless, a majority of the patients did not use the gel daily and in accordance with the instructions given. Application of the gel in the abutment depressions of the overdenture appeared to be a heavy task.

Salicylic acid and its derivatives are extensively used medications for the treatment of systemic and local diseases. However, injudicious use of aspirin as well as other derivatives of salicylic acid, may cause systemic and oral complications such as mucosal burns and oral ulcers. Adapalene is a new topical retinoid derived from naphthoic acid with a selective effect on the epidermis. It is indicated for treatment of acne vulgaris, alone or with other antiacneic topicals. In patients with nosebleedings, the hemostatic effect of local application of tranexamic acid gel or placebo was compared in a randomized, double-blind, multicenter clinical trial with parallel groups.
