Queer Uses of the Irish Past: Memory, Stigma, and Survival in Phillip McMahon's Once Before I Go.

This article reads Phillip McMahon's Once Before I Go (2021) as a major intervention into Irish HIV/AIDS theatre and queer medical humanitie … the article argues that Once Before I Go recovers the potential of histories, bodies, and forms of grief that Irish public culture had often left behind while it also refuses the Irish theatrical pattern in which AIDS death functions as punishment for queer excess or non-assimilation. Instead, through its nonlinear dramaturgy and memory, the play trans …

Personal Testimony About Dealing with Loss and Self-Care.

As an interfaith hospital chaplain and a Christian, navigating the profound emotional terrain of grief and loss is both a professional duty and a deeply personal journey. Attending the funerals of two close friends has brought out the interplay between my role as a spiritual caregiver and my own vulnerability. In reflection, I realize the importance of self-care and the reminder that in offering comfort and empathy, I must first find it within myself.

The Global Great Society and the US commitment to smallpox eradication.

In 1965, Lyndon B. Johnson announced that the United States would join the fledgling global program to eradicate smallpox, beginning with a program in West Africa. The American commitment to smallpox eradication represented a broader effort in the United States and the developing world to expand international health programs and build a Global Great Society. The Global Great Society came to grief, but global smallpox eradication would ultimately succeed.
