OBJECTIVE: To assess the daily treatment costs and the average cost-effectiveness of three topical onychomycosis therapies - amorolfine 5% and ciclopirox 8% nail lacquers and tioconazole 28% nail solution - when used as indicated in France, the UK, Germany and Italy.

Melanonychia is characterized by tan, brown, or black pigmentation within the nail plate. Fungal melanonychia is rare and may simulate longitudinal melanonychia caused by melanocytic lesions. BACKGROUND: Nail involvement in lichen striatus (LS) is uncommon and has always been reported in association with typical skin lesions.
OBJECTIVE: We attempted to characterize the clinical and pathologic features and the long-term prognosis of nail LS.

A total of 201 patients suffering from trichophytosis induced by T. rubrum have been effectively treated with nizoral combined with external management: removal of the nail plates, keratolytic and fungicidal therapy. We present the case of two patients with an unusual form of discoid lupus erythematosus that was confined almost exclusively to the palms and soles. Thirteen cases of eczema that followed acute cutaneous trauma were observed. On the basis of the present case series, the following conclusions may be drawn: 1. In a field study of occupational dermatoses in a prefabrication construction factory, 272 workers were interviewed, examined and patch tested to chromate, cobalt, nickel, rubber mixes, epoxy resin, melamine formaldehyde and conplasts. Biochemical analysis of involved and uninvolved skin of a 16-year-old female with acrogeria showed that hyaluronic acid and collagen contents were decreased only in involved skin. Explant cultures from both involved and uninvolved skin synthesized mainly hyaluronic acid in similar amounts.
