Cervical fibroids are relatively rare compared to fibroids that develop in other parts of the uterus, accounting for nearly 1%-2% of all fibroids. They typically originate from the supravaginal or vaginal portions of the cervix. One histological variant is angiolipoleiomyoma (ALLM), a benign mixed mesenchymal neoplasm composed of smooth muscle, mature adipose tissue, and abnormal blood vessels. While there are case reports of ALLM occurring in the kidneys, its presence in the female genital tract is extremely uncommon. Furthermore, here, we present a novel case of a 40-year-old postmenopausal

Melanomas of the female genital tract may occur in the vulva, the vagina, the ovary or the cervix. Pregnancy has been considered an aggravating factor in the evolution and prognosis of melanoma. A 35-year-old female presented with vaginal bleeding 2 months after a term cesarean delivery. An endovaginal ultrasound revealed a lesion in the uterine cervix. The pathological report revealed a small round-cell neoplasm, and the immunohistochemistry confirmed the diagnosis of malignant melanoma. A positron emission tomography revealed an expansive hypermetabolic lesion centered on the cervix, and hyp

Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a rare multisystem genetic disease, with an estimated incidence of 1 in 6000-1 in 10,000. TSC is an autosomal dominant syndrome involving heart, kidneys, lungs, and skin. The classic triad of TSC is seizures, mental retardation, and angiofibromas; this triad occurs in only 29% of patients. The clinical diagnostic guidelines on TSC are prepared based on clinical features, radiographic findings. The most common oral manifestations of TSC are fibroma, gingival hyperplasia, and enamel hypoplasia. Odontogenic myxofibroma represents a rare slow-growing benign neop

Renal leiomyomas are an extremely rare neoplasm which account for 1.5% of the benign lesions and 0.29% of all treated renal tumours, with autopsy evidence of 4.2% to 5.2%. Given their exceptional incidence, they are rarely included in the differential diagnosis of renal masses, despite their capacity to grow to a considerable size. The definitive diagnosis of a leiomyoma is only possible after histopathological examination, most of the times of a nephrectomy specimen. However, due to the rising number of diagnosis resulting from improved medical imaging and interventions, renal leiomyomas shou

Chronic neutrophilic leukemia (CNL) is a rare myeloproliferative neoplasm. We herein describe the case of a 41-year-old woman who was admitted with nephrotic syndrome (NS) and severe neutrophilia and underwent a splenectomy due to splenomegaly. Peripheral blood tests revealed a Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) V617F mutation without the Philadelphia chromosome, BCR-ABL fusion transcripts, or FIP1 L1-platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF)a. A kidney biopsy showed focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) with interstitial neutrophil infiltration and with a JAK2 V617F mutation. Hydroxyurea was initiated for

Solitary fibrous tumor is an unusual spindle cell neoplasm that usually occurs in the pleura but has also been described in other sites. Renal presentation is rare and only 38 cases of SFT of the kidney have been described until now. Up to 90% of the tumors have benign characteristics. Local retroperitoneal recurrence is extremely rare. We report a case of a large malignant solitary fibrous tumor recurrence after the surgical excision of the primary tumor. Histological examination of the specimen confirmed the diagnosis by revealing highly positive reaction of the neoplasmatic cells for viment

Primary cardiac synovial sarcoma is an uncommon malignant neoplasm, with only a handful of cases reported in the English literature to date. Synovial sarcomas have also been described at other unusual sites, such as the heart, pleuropulmonary region, kidney, prostate, liver, mediastinum, retroperitoneum, gastrointestinal tract, and peripheral nerve. For synovial sarcomas that arise at these unusual locations, definitive diagnosis is challenging and requires use of ancillary diagnostic procedures, such as immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy, and molecular genetic techniques, for confirmat

A 47-year-old man presented with dull pain in the left upper abdomen for 1 year. Computed tomograph (CT) examination revealed a very large heterogeneously enhancing mass in the left kidney, measuring up to 28 cm. The mass was accompanied by several enlarged lymph nodes in the peri-aortic region. Radical nephrectomy was performed and pathologic evaluation revealed sheets of epithelioid cells and piecemeal necrosis consistent with malignant epithelioid angiomyolipoma (EAML) with regional lymph node metastases. The tumor cells were strongly positive for human melanosome-associated protein (HMB-45

Mucinous adenocarcinomas of the renal pelvis and ureter are among the rarest upper urinary tract neoplasm. We report a case of multifocal primary mucinous adenocarcinoma of the renal pelvis and ureter occurring in association with a staghorn calculus and pyonephrosis. A 68 year old man had suffered from right flank pain and upper abdominal swelling for one year. After a series of investigation, a right staghorn stone with pyonephrosis leading to non-functioning kidney was found. Right nephrectomy was performed. The pathological report showed mucinous adenocarcinoma with ureteric margin positiv

A spontaneous case of renal tumor was observed in a 7-year-old ovariectomized female pet ferret (Mustela putorius furo). Clinical signs included exhaustion, emaciation, anorexia, and stooping position. At necropsy, a solid and cystic mass replaced the left kidney and adrenal gland. The tumor was composed of pleomorphic epithelial cells with a large number of giant cells. Metastases were recognized in the lung, liver, greater omentum, right renal pelvis, and systemic lymph nodes. Immunohistochemical stains revealed that the tumor cells were positive for CD10, cytokeratin (CAM 5.2), and Ki-67 (M

Amyloidosis first described by Karl Rokitansky in 1842 consists in accumulation of pathological protein (amyloid) within both cells and extracellular space. It usually develops in the course of a chronic inflammation or some neoplasms. The clinical picture depends on the impairment degree of an organ in which amyloid accumulates. The diagnosis is based on the cytological examination of the material collected by means of biopsy of the subcutaneous fatty tissue and of the mucosa of the anal orifice, gums, kidneys or liver etc. In the presented study a rare case of amyloidal concrements localised

The diagnostic rate of small, "incidental" tumors which are amenable to local excision or ablation has increased significantly due to widespread use of non-invasive body imaging tests. The role of nephron-sparing tumor-ablative surgery has expanded beyond the traditional circumstances of neoplasms in solitary/functionally solitary kidneys or tumors present bilaterally. Due to technologic advances, possible therapeutic options now include open surgery, laparoscopic, percutaneous and extraciorporeal approaches, in addition to surveillance in some cases. This review will concentrate on the new en

Anastomosing hemangioma (AH) is a rare benign vascular neoplasm. It has been reported most commonly in the testes and genitourinary system [1-2], but it has also been described in the liver [3], gastrointestinal tract, ovary , and paraspinal region [4]. Although AH is well differentiated and has no malignant potential, it lacks specific imaging features and is therefore difficult to diagnose preoperatively. AH occurring in the liver is prone to be misdiagnosed as liver angiosarcoma [5]. Similarly, AH arising in the kidney is particularly difficult to distinguish from clear cell renal cell carc

Light chain deposition disease (LCDD) is a rare condition associated with the overproduction and deposition of monoclonal light chain immunoglobulins. The kidneys are universally affected in LCDD, with the development of renal failure with nephrotic syndrome, microscopic hematuria, and proteinuria. Most cases are associated with a plasma cell neoplasm (multiple myeloma or plasmacytoma) or other lymphoproliferative disorders, with a reasonable number of cases also being idiopathic. Other organs can be affected in rare cases, without producing significant symptoms, predominantly the liver and he

A 5-year-old female spayed ferret was presented with lameness of the left hind limb and dyspnea. Five months earlier, the animal had been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy and an undifferentiated precardiac mass. Clinical, radiological, and laboratory examinations revealed a left femoral neck fracture, mild anemia, and hyperglobulinemia. Due to the poor general condition and unfavorable prognosis, the animal was euthanized. Pathological examination identified the precardiac mass as multiple myeloma with dissemination to the mediastinum, spleen, liver, kidneys, adrenal glands, lymph nodes,

Melanoma is reported as the 19th most common cancer worldwide, with estimated age-standardized incidence rates of 2.8-3.1 per 100,000. Although the origin is most frequently cutaneous, mucosal melanoma has been described several times in literature, and despite its rarity (only 1% of all melanomas), increasing attention is being paid to this disease form. Within this subgroup, melanomas of the uropoetic apparatus are a rarity among rarities. Indeed, less than 50 cases of primary melanoma originating from the urinary bladder have been described, and even less originating from the kidney, renal

Liposarcoma is a rare neoplasm in rats and is characterized by the presence of lipoblasts containing multiple cytoplasmic vacuoles. We encountered a rare type of liposarcoma in a male SD (Crj:CD(SD)IGS) rat during a long-term study to gather background data. At necropsy at 105 weeks of age, there was a large amount of fatty tissue covering the mesentery, pancreas, and retroperitoneum; a white nodule in the right kidney; and paleness of the liver. Microscopically, the tumor had a well-differentiated component and dedifferentiated high-grade component. Immunohistochemical and electron microscopi

Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) are a diverse group of tumors arising throughout the body with a common origin from neuroendocrine cells. Well-differentiated NENs, also known as neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), are generally indolent and are often found incidentally, while poorly differentiated tumors are more aggressive. Carcinoid tumors are NETs arising from the gastrointestinal tract and less commonly from the lungs, thymus, and kidneys. NETs in the mesentery arise from metastasis from primary tumor, and carcinoid syndrome in this setting results from concomitant metastasis to the liver. Prima
