Undifferentiated malignant tumors were induced at the site of injection of human adenovirus type 12 into newborn mice of the C(3)H(f)/ G(8). strain, but not of the DBA(f), or A(f) strains. The tumors were grossly and histologically similar to those induced by this virus in hamsters, but appeared in a smaller percentage of injected mice than hamsters.

Short-term (26 weeks) Tg.rasH2 mouse carcinogenicity studies have been conducted as an alternative model to the conventional 2-year mouse carcinogenicity studies, using urethane as a positive control material. In these studies, urethane was used at a dose of 1,000 mg/kg/dose, administered intraperitoneally on days 1, 3, and 5. Chemoembolisation is a new promising approach. Until now no standardized procedures exist for the production of the embolisate-cytostatics mixture. A main technical problem when doing chemoembolisation is the proof of the complete peripheral vascular occlusion. By using lyophilized Spherex and cytostatics, diluted in x-ray contrast media, frozen pictures can be obtained and the complete proof of the embolisation is possible. Therefore the conventional x-ray examination can be used to monitor the embolisation treatment instead of the much more sophisticated DSA technique.

In the present study, the growth features and metastatic capacity of human primary and metastatic melanomas transplanted by different routes in nude mice was examined.
