Rett syndrome, a neurodevelopmental disorder affecting mainly females, is caused by a mutation of the MeCP2 gene. Girls with Rett syndrome manifest diverse behavioral and cognitive phenotypes, and the reasons for this variability remain unknown. Forty children with dyslexia, aged 7-12 years, have been randomized into two groups in an open controlled study: 18 of them received Nootropil (piracetam) in the dose of 100 mg/kg daily for 2 months and 22 were examined as a control group. Tethered cord syndrome (TCS) occurs when the distal spinal cord is adherent to inelastic tissue. This results in sensorimotor deficits in the lower extremities, bowel and bladder dysfunction, and musculoskeletal deformities. The origin of myoclonus in patients with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is unknown.
