This study aimed to report sociodemographic, clinicopathologic and radiological features of 12 cases of aggressive neoplasms that were clinically diagnosed as chronic endodontic lesions. The series comprised seven females (58.33%) and five males (41.67%), with a mean age of 48.9 ± 19.19 years (range: 16-75 years). In six cases (50%), the posterior maxillary region was involved. Internal appearance was radiolucent density (n = 12/100%). Eleven cases (91.67%) exhibited well-defined borders, while one (8.33%) showed ill-defined borders. Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) is a well documented and widely accepted intracanal irrigant used to disinfect the pulp space in endodontic therapy. NaOCl can be an extremely cytotoxic material; therefore, care must be taken with its use. The authors present a case of periradicular extravasation of NaOCl with sequelae of pain, swelling, ecchymosis and parasthesia consistent with a chemical burn. The patient was treated with a nonsurgical medical management approach. She experienced a complete resolution of signs and symptoms, aside from a persistent residual focal parasthesia.

Traumatized teeth present a clinical challenge with regard to their diagnosis, treatment plan and prognosis. The injuries to the permanent dentition include crown and root fractures, subluxations, luxations and tooth avulsion. Common complications are pulp necrosis, periapical pathosis and root resorption. Vital maxillary canines of mature cats were intentionally instrumented through the foramen with No. 50 K-files. Dentin chips were packed into the apical opening in one tooth of each animal. In the contralateral tooth a dentin plug was not formed. Both root canals were then filled with gutta-percha. The animals were sacrificed at 3, 5, and 8 months. The results showed quicker healing characterized by minimal inflammation and cementum deposition in the specimens where dentin fillings were packed.
