The marketability of natural pigment-based indicator films is impeded by their weaker color rendering and stability compared with synthetic pigments. Here, we developed novel colorimetric indicators by blending polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) with carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and combining alizarin and curcumin.
