Developing a list of core competencies for medical aspects of healthcare delivery in care homes: scoping review and Delphi process.

BACKGROUND: Care home residents live with frailty and multiple long-term conditions. Their medical management is complex and specialised. We set out to develop a list of core competencies for doctors providing medical care in long-term care homes. METHODS: A scoping review searched MEDLINE, EMBASE and CAB Abstracts, supplemented by grey literature from the Portal of Online Geriatrics Education and the International Association of Geriatrics and Gerontology, looking for core competencies for doctors working in care homes. These were mapped to the UK nationally mandated Generic Professional Com

The Experience of Learners Taking Objective Structured Assessments of Technical Skills (OSATS) Without Task Time Limits.

This article reports a qualitative exploration of learners' experiences of completing an Objective Structured Assessment of Technical Skills (OSATS) examination in preclinical dental implantology in which no time limits were imposed on the assessed tasks. Data from semi-structured interviews were analysed using Reflexive Thematic Analysis to identify patterns of meaning within participants' experiences. Participants frequently perceived the preclinical OSATS as a predictor of future professional practice, with its inherent time pressures, rather than as an assessment of attainment of the precl

When education turns critical: A rapid review of undergraduate and graduate nursing students' experiences and needs with critical events.

BACKGROUND: Many nursing students experience critical events during clinical education. As students are rarely prepared for such events, they can perceive them as traumatic, doubt their competence, or even drop out of education. Little is known about which events are perceived as critical by nursing students, how they affect them, and what support is required. AIM: This rapid review examines, summarises, and critically evaluates the available evidence on critical events in nursing students. METHODS: The researchers conducted a rapid review following the steps from the Cochrane Rapid Reviews

Intensive care professionals' perspectives on dysphagia management: A focus group study.

BACKGROUND: Intensive care unit (ICU)-acquired dysphagia has severe consequences for patients including increased morbidity and mortality. Standard operating procedures, however, including systematic evaluation of swallowing function and access to specialised assessment and training may be limited. Dysphagia management relies on multiprofessional collaboration, but practice is variable and nonstandardised. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to explore and compare nurses', physicians', and occupational therapists' perceptions of dysphagia management in the ICU. MATERIALS AND METHODS:

Leg-Length in Relation to Selected Ballet Performance Indicators.

UNLABELLED: It is unclear whether the modern ballet body stereotype of long limbs is advantageous in dance performance. Therefore, we investigated the relationship between leg-length and selected dance movements representative of power, dexterity, and range of motion in ballet dancers at different competence levels. METHODS: The total of 10 recreational, 24 vocational, and 10 professional ballerinas volunteered. They were subjected to: a) lower limb-length measurements, b) power tests (vertical jump-sautés and unilateral countermovement jump-temps levé), c) dexterity tests (tendus and double

[Resuscitation].

The factor "time" is probably the greatest enemy in a situation of cardio-respiratory arrest; rapid recognition and competent management are the duty of any physician, in the future eventually also of paramedical or even of non-professional persons. In a short overview the diagnostic and practical procedures of reanimation are repeated. Finally the chances for and results of resuscitated patients are discussed.

Nature-Based Health Interventions for People with Mild to Moderate Anxiety, Depression, and/or Stress: Identifying Target Groups, Professionals, Mechanisms, and Outcomes Through a Delphi Study.

Nature-based health interventions (NBHIs) are increasingly used in the healthcare system to support people with anxiety, depression and/or stress, highlighting the need for systematic development and evaluation. This study aims to identify target group, professionals, mechanisms, and outcomes of NBHIs for people with mild to moderate anxiety, depression, and/or stress. A Delphi-based study was conducted to explore core components of NBHIs in healthcare settings. Thirteen vs. eleven researchers with expertise related to the target group responded in two rounds. Respondents rated statements on a

Patient safety culture from the perspective of home healthcare providers and family caregivers: a qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Patient safety culture (PSC) in home healthcare centres (HHCs) remains insufficiently examined compared with hospital settings. HHCs are licensed facilities that coordinate and deliver skilled nursing, rehabilitation and other professional services directly to patients' own homes. The present study investigates the dimensions of PSC in HHCs from the perspectives of both healthcare providers and family caregivers. METHODS: This study was conducted using a qualitative approach and the conventional content analysis method (Graneheim and Lundman). Participants (n=15) included managers

AIM: The aim of the study was to develop the Safe Motherhood Scale and to evaluate its validity and reliability. METHODS: This methodological study was conducted online with 341 participants through social media platforms and internet-

Construction and practice of a multi-station Chinese medicine specialist nurse training system based on core competencies: a Delphi study.

BACKGROUND: With the increasing global recognition of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the standardized training of TCM specialist nurses remains challenging due to the lack of competency-based training frameworks that effectively integrate theoretical education with clinical practice. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a competency-based multi-station training system for TCM specialist nurses. METHODS: A preliminary training framework was developed based on literature review, expert discussions, and the core competency framework of TCM specialist nurses. A three-round Delphi consult
