Learning curve for robot-assisted rectal resection using the hinotori™ surgical robot system: a risk-adjusted cumulative sum analysis in a surgical team without prior robotic surgery experience.

Learning curves for robot-assisted rectal resection are mainly reported for the da Vinci platform. We evaluated the learning curve and short-term outcomes after introducing the hinotori™ Surgical Robot System as the first robotic platform for a surgeon with no prior console experience and a team with no prior robotic surgery experience. We retrospectively analyzed 60 consecutive robot-assisted rectal resections performed using the hinotori™ Surgical Robot System at a single center. The primary and secondary outcomes were the console time and robot roll-in–to–console start time, respectively. T

National survey of GERGIN-affiliated Spanish gynecologic robotic surgeons of the perceived clinical, educational and professional impact of robotic surgery.

Robotic surgery is reshaping minimally invasive gynecology; however, systematic characterisation of how GERGIN-affiliated Spanish gynecologic robotic surgeons perceive its clinical, educational, and professional implications has been lacking. We aimed to describe these perceptions and identify training gaps and professional attitudes in this national surgical community. A cross-sectional anonymous online survey was distributed in November 2025 by GERGIN (Grupo Español de Robótica Ginecológica), a working group of the Spanish Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (SEGO), to all 120 registered m

Robot-assisted versus non-robotic partial nephrectomy for completely endophytic renal tumors: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Completely endophytic renal tumors (CERTs), which are entirely confined within the renal parenchyma, present substantial technical challenges during nephron-sparing surgery. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) with laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN) and open partial nephrectomy (OPN) specifically for CERTs. PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library were searched through August 24, 2026. Eligible comparative studies directly evaluated RAPN versus LPN and/or OPN. Continuous outcomes were summarized usi

Standardized Testing and Quantitative Safety Assessment for Upper Limb Rehabilitation Robots: A Bionic Robotic Platform and Integrated Evaluation Framework.

To address the lack of standardized safety assessment tools for upper-limb rehabilitation robots, this study developed an integrated testing platform and a quantitative safety assessment framework, demonstrated with FlexoArm1 as a proof-of-concept. A 6-degree-of-freedom bionic arm equipped with multiple sensors was constructed, and a fuzzy PID control algorithm was employed to improve motion trajectory tracking accuracy. A fuzzy multi-criteria safety assessment model was established by combining the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) with the entropy weight method. Experiments were conducted on

A comparison between visual, robotic, and intracoronary imaging lesion length assessment during robotic-assisted percutaneous coronary intervention.

OBJECTIVES: Inaccurate lesion length assessment can lead to adverse clinical outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Robotic-assisted PCI (R-PCI) may provide more accurate lesion assessment. The authors aimed to compare the accuracy of visual, robotic, and intracoronary imaging-derived lesion length assessment. METHODS: Sixty-three patients (69 lesions) who underwent R-PCI using the CorPath GRX (Siemens Healthineers) system were analyzed. The operator provided a visual estimate of lesion length, which was compared to the measurement using the robotic system. In cases in which

Early Incarcerated Hernia at an 8-mm Robotic Port Site After Robot-Assisted Ileocecal Resection: A Case Report.

Port-site hernia (PSH) after minimally invasive surgery is uncommon but can lead to bowel incarceration. Although fascial closure is generally recommended for port sites measuring 10 mm or larger, closure of 8-mm robotic port sites remains controversial. A 73-year-old Japanese woman with ascending colon cancer (cT2N0M0) underwent robot-assisted ileocecal resection with D3 lymph node dissection. She had a thin body habitus (height, 146 cm; weight, 33 kg; body mass index, 15.5 kg/m2). One 12-mm umbilical port, four 8-mm robotic ports, and one 5-mm assistant port were used. The umbilical mini-lap
