Seven patients received intraperitoneal chromic phosphate (32P) suspension in a 3-ml bolus with a saline flush, and another ten patients were given the suspension in a 500-ml infusion of normal saline. During the first six hours after administration, most 32P activity redistributed to the gravity-dependent portion of the peritoneal cavity. From 24 hours up to seven weeks after administration, activity distributions were fixed. The urethral pressure profiles of 35 patients suffering from stress incontinence before and after suprapubic suspension operations have been analysed. Irrespective of the post-operative result there were no significant changes in the various characteristics of the pressure profile. The results suggest that a suspension operation for stress incontinence has no direct effect on the sphincteric urethral mechanism but places the urethra in a higher position where it can be affected by increases in intra-abdominal pressure.

Fifty-five frontalis sling procedures were performed with use of 4--0 polyfilament, cable-type ophthalmic suture (Supramid Extra) as the material for suspension. Recurrences numbered 16, recorded through a follow-up period of one to ten years. Trauma accounted for five recurrences. By means of the system of ion-selective electrodes the coupling transport of K+, H+ and Cl- ions in liposome suspension was studied. Nigericin and tributyl tin (TBT) were used as inductors of cation and anion exchange. Effect of pH gradient created on the membrane on ionic transport was studied. The latter was shown to control the antiport exchange of both, cations and anions. At the joint effect of nigericin and TBT the yield of K+ and Cl- ions from liposomes independent of the pH gradient was observed.

A Kveim suspension has been shown to inhibit the migration of leucocytes in vitro from 12 out of 18 patients with Crohn's disease but to have no comparable effect on leucocytes from patients with ulcerative colitis or from a group of patients with other diseases. These findings provide further evidence of cross-reactivity or of a possible aetiological link between Crohn's disease and sarcoidosis and suggest a further immunological distinction between Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
