Intraocular Cytokine Level Prediction from Fundus Images and Optical Coherence Tomography.

The relationship between retinal images and intraocular cytokine profiles remains largely unexplored, and no prior work has systematically compared fundus- and OCT-based deep learning models for cytokine prediction. We aimed to predict intraocular cytokine concentrations using color fundus photographs (CFP) and retinal optical coherence tomography (OCT) with deep learning. Our pipeline consisted of image preprocessing, convolutional neural network-based feature extraction, and regression modeling for each cytokine. Deep learning was implemented using AutoGluon, which automatically explored mul

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Findings in Post-COVID-19 Healthcare Workers.

Recent evidence suggests that SARS-CoV-2 may induce subtle anatomical changes in the retina, detectable through advanced imaging techniques. This retrospective case-control study utilized optical coherence tomography (OCT) to assess medium-term retinal alterations in 55 healthcare workers, including 25 individuals with PCR-confirmed COVID-19 and 30 non-COVID-19 controls, all of whom had worked in COVID-19 clinical settings. Comprehensive ophthalmological examinations, including OCT imaging, were conducted six months after infection. The analysis considered demographic variables, comorbidities,

Quantitative ophthalmic posterior segment optical coherence tomography angiography and systemic conditions.

Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) noninvasively and quantitatively images the microvasculature of the eye's posterior segment in 3 dimensions. OCTA has known utility in the diagnosis and management of certain ocular conditions and is now being used to assess systemic conditions, including respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, obstetric, neurologic, rheumatologic, and genetic conditions, among others. OCTA may improve our understanding of the pathophysiology of systemic conditions and identify biomarkers useful in their diagnosis, prognosis, and management. We detail known associati

OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY ANGIOGRAPHY ANALYSIS OF COHORT WITH PERIPAPILLARY CHOROIDAL NEOVASCULARIZATION.

PURPOSE: Although many studies have analyzed macular choroidal neovascularization (CNV) using optical coherence tomography angiography, few have focused on peripapillary CNV, which comprises approximately 10% of CNV cases. This study examines optical coherence tomography angiography vessel changes in patients with treated and untreated peripapillary CNV to better understand disease progression. METHODS: Nineteen eyes with peripapillary CNV secondary to neovascular age-related macular degeneration were retrospectively analyzed. Treated eyes (n = 13) received anti-VEGF injections after a modifi

Lessons Learned: Quality Analysis of Optical Coherence Tomography in Neuromyelitis Optica.

INTRODUCTION: Optical coherence tomography (OCT)-derived retina measurements are markers for neuroaxonal visual pathway status. High-quality OCT scans are essential for reliable measurements, but their acquisition is particularly challenging in eyes with severe visual impairment, as often observed in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD). OBJECTIVE: To investigate OCT quality issues in real-world data from the international Collaborative Retrospective Study on Retinal OCT in Neuromyelitis Optica (CROCTINO). METHODS: We evaluated the quality of peripapillary and macular OCT scans, u

VET: Vasculature Extraction Transformer for Single-Scan Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography.

Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) is a non-invasive imaging modality for analyzing skin microvasculature, enabling non-invasive diagnosis and treatment monitoring. Traditional OCTA algorithms necessitate at least two-repeated scans to generate microvasculature images, while image quality is highly dependent on the repetitions of scans (e.g., 4-8). Nevertheless, a higher repetition count increases data acquisition time, causing patient discomfort and more unpredictable motion artifacts, which can result in potential misdiagnosis. To address these limitations, we proposed a vascula

Proteomics associated with coronary high-risk plaques by optical coherence tomography.

Biomarkers are widely used for the diagnosis and monitoring of cardiovascular disease. However, markers for coronary high-risk plaques have not been identified. The aim of this study was to identify proteins specific to coronary high-risk plaques. Fifty-one patients (71.2 ± 11.1 years, male: 66.7%) who underwent intracoronary optical coherence tomography imaging and provided blood specimens for proteomic analysis were prospectively enrolled. A total of 1470 plasma proteins were analyzed per patient using the Olink® Explore 1536 Reagent Kit. In patients with thin-cap fibroatheroma, the protein
