Urolithiasis is a condition with calculi commonly found within the kidney, ureter, or bladder. The urethra is an uncommon location of urolithiasis, with limited case reports and literature reviews of its presentation and management. Here we discuss a 24-year-old female who presented with urinary urgency, flank pain, and urinary retention for 12 hours. Physical exam showed a calculus at the urethral meatus. This case discusses the manual removal of a urethral calculus in a female patient with use of forceps, resulting in complete resolution of symptoms and urinary retention.

We report herein a case of familial primary hyperparathyroidism diagnosed in a 23-year-old woman who presented with hypercalcemia and urolithiasis. The parathyroid gland was removed, and pathological examination revealed chief cell adenoma. The proband's younger sister had undergone surgery for parathyroid adenoma at the age of 19, and her aunt had a history of urolithiasis with a high level of serum parathyroid hormone. We have not yet found evidence of any other endocrine disorders suggesting multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) type 1 in this pedigree.

The authors report a retrospective series of 174 patients with urolithiasis. They were all age between 65 and 88 years. This group represents one tenth of all patients treated for urinary stones in the Urology department of Sfax over the last decade. Neither the clinical symptoms nor radiological findings observed in this group differed from those other patients hospitalized for urolithiasis; on the other hand associated diseases related to aging appear to be well represented which alters the management, prognosis and outcome in this type of patients.

CASE REPORT: Cystic urolithiasis is the most common form of urolithiasis reported in horses. In contrast to the gelding or stallion, clinical disease is less common in the mare and manual removal techniques are possible because of their shorter, wider urethral anatomy. Among the 127 patients who underwent surgical treatment for Crohn's disease at Tohoku University Hospital, urinary complications were noted in 13 patients (10.2%), including urolithiasis in 6 patients (4.7%), a ureteral obstruction in 4 (3.1%), and urinary fistula in 3 (2.4%).
