Antimicrobial Activity of Chitosan Film Forming Solution Enriched with Essential Oils; an in Vitro Assay.

Background: The resistance of the bacteria and fungi to the innumerous antimicrobial agents is a major challenge in the treatment of the inf … ccus aureus, Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecium, Lactobacillus rahmnosus, Aspergillus niger and Alternaria alternate. Material and Methods: In three replicates, the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of different treatments including: 1- essential oils (EOs), 2- chitosan film solution (CFs), and 3-chit …

Allergic respiratory disease: Different allergens, different symptoms.

BACKGROUND: Spanish population is rather homogeneous in its genetic and sociocultural characteristics, but allergen sensitization shows wide … more severe and commonly intermittent rhinitis. HDM were associated with more common rhinitis, and Alternaria was associated with asthma. The study confirms an association of geographical areas with relevant allergens and allergic clinical picture. CONCLUSION: Different types of aeroallergens and specific sensitization profiles are associated with differen …

Eight Aeroallergen Skin Extracts May Be the Optimal Panel for Allergic Rhinitis Patients in Central China.

BACKGROUND: The prevalence of allergic rhinitis (AR) is increasing rapidly in Central China. The skin prick test (SPT) is the standard tool … s (D. pteronyssinus, D. farinae, Platanus, Artemisia, Cryptomeria, Blatella germanica, Humulus, and Alternaria) was sufficient to identify over 99% of the sensitized patients. CONCLUSION: An SPT panel covering 8 allergen extracts was able to detect almost all sensitized patients suffering from AR symptoms in Central China.

The Elongator complex-associated protein DRL1 plays a positive role in immune responses against necrotrophic fungal pathogens in Arabidopsis.

DEFORMED ROOT AND LEAVES1 (DRL1) is an Arabidopsis homologue of the yeast TOXIN TARGET4 (TOT4)/KILLER TOXIN-INSENSITIVE12 (KTI12) protein th … ngal pathogen Botrytis cinerea-induced defence gene expression and for resistance to B. cinerea and Alternaria brassicicola. Furthermore, unlike the TOT4/KTI12 gene which, when overexpressed in yeast, confers zymocin resistance, a phenotype of the tot4/kti12 mutant, overexpression of DRL1 does not change B. cinerea-induced defence gene expression and resista …

The characteristics of indoor and outdoor fungi and their relation with allergic respiratory diseases in the southern region of Turkey.

Indoor and outdoor fungal exposure has been shown to be associated with the development of allergic respiratory diseases. The aim of the stu … nt indoor fungal species were Cladosporium (69.3 %), Penicillium (18.9 %), Aspergillus (6.5 %), and Alternaria (3.1 %). A strong correlation between indoor and outdoor fungal levels was detected for the Cladosporium species (p < 0.001, r = 0.72) throughout the year. Living in a detached home (p = 0.036) and the presence of cockroaches (p = 0.005) were associ …

The inflammatory response of eosinophil-related fungal rhinosinusitis varies with inciting fungi.

Earlier studies demonstrated immunological response to Alternaria alternata in patients with eosinophil-related fungal rhinosinusitis (FRS). However, Aspergillus flavus rather than A. alternata is predominantly isolated from such patients in Asia. We compared immunological response to A. flavus and A. alternata in our patients with eosinophil related FRS. Total immunoglobulin E, absolute eosinophil count (AEC), cytokine response, and in vitro eosinophil degranulation in the presence of A. flavus/A. alternata were compared among patients with eosinophil-related FRS, non-eosinophilic rhinosinusi…

BACKGROUND: Childhood sensitization rates for many aeroallergens are underreported. OBJECTIVES: To examine aeroallergen sensitization rates … ge number of positive skin test results increased with age. The most common allergens were grasses, Alternaria, and cottonwood. Thirty-two of 51 allergens were positive in 20% or more children. Rates for many underreported allergens are presented. Prosopis juliflora among pollen allergens and Alternaria alternata among fungal allergens were important sensitizers in allergic patients with 34.7% and 17.7% skin positivity, respectively. Influence of Copper Oxide Nanoparticles on Gene Expression of Birch Clones In Vitro under Stress Caused by Phytopathogens.

Recently, metal oxide nanoparticles (NPs) have attracted attention as promising components for the protection and stimulation of plant microclones in tissue culture in vitro. However, the effect of NPs on the genetic mechanisms underlying plant adaptive responses remains poorly understood. We studied the effect of column-shaped CuO NPs 50 nm in diameter and 70-100 nm in length at a concentration of 0.1-10 mg/L on the development of phytopathogenic fungi Alternaria alternata, Fusarium oxysporum, and Fusarium avenaceum in culture, as well as on the infection of downy birch micro-clones with phyt…
